I claim that appreciation of music with vocals in an unintelligible language is more pure that that of one you understand, because it's not corrupted by the meaning of the words.
you're literally autistic if you let the language barrier impede your enjoyment of music

that was the most pretentious sounding thing I've ever read but I agree with it completely

My favourite artist is norwegian
He just went solo, so that's nice:

Not always technically perfect, but that's what I love about him.
>>63299830
I'm Norwegian and i can't fucking understand what he is saying.
It allows for appreciation to occur divorced from the contextual framework of your understanding of language. This concept dates back a good while and is explored in parallel with concepts such as musique concrète & plunderphonics.
I personally like to look these things up, however.

so it's relevant to the thread no matter what country you're from then...

suck a dick
Sure! If I can't understand but I like it, it's the first step towards learning the language!
I can say I speak 4 languages now, I'd probably be stuck at 2 if it weren't for music. And I'm anxious to learn one more!

I don't even know what the lyrics mean, but I know the lyrics of Dragostea din tei for some fucking reason.
Yeah, I listen to Japanese and French music, they're aesthetically pleasing to the ears

Yeah. I very much appreciate good lyrical choice in English, but I feel like if it's in a language that I don't understand it lets me kind of just impose the feels that the instrumentals/vocalist are giving.
Example of great vocal tracks that I don't understand:

Portuguese is also really good for this kind of thing, and Chinese too but honestly I struggle to find good Chinese bands.

I'm from France and don't listen to french music much except for old 90s 00s rap.
Just curious, what french music are you listening to ?

lucky guy
Buena Vista Social Club would be GOAT in all languages.
>>63299049
Edith Piaf, Francoise Hardy are two musicians I thoroughly enjoy but I don't know French. One of my favourite albums is Missa Luba which is a Congolese mass sung album, it's beautiful but again, it is in a different language.

same, it's tough to find anything that isn't just boring pop, here's a few good ones i've found

What a dumb fuckin question

Daft Punk

Ah man, Elephant Gym was already the only Taiwanese/Chinese band I knew, Angle is one of my top albums for sure. On their facebook recently they've been posting stuff of them with How To Count One to Ten (hope they recorded some stuff for the love of god).
Thanks for White, this is pretty neat. Whole label has interesting sounds.
>>63299250
I agree with this.
I like listening to conlang songs
