My favorite DSBM album. When I am feeling my absolute worse, I can resonate with this album.
Never fails to make me happy
never ever fails to make me happy all the way to my core
i think this is the best album ever
>>63271524
this was me in 8th grade
i gotta say that older tokyo police club album holds up better than that one
still dig frankenstein especially of that one though
>>63271455
this was me in 10th grade
really great, i think i liked lesser matters more then but clinging is def my favorite radio dept album now
the video dept is so beautiful
Same OP. Super bummed by everything they've done since.
>>63272029
good!
>>63272213
good!
>>63271403
as nice as this album is, I can't respect it for what it does, since it's the most blatant rip off of Animal Collective ever
the fact that the vocals aren't as interesting as Avery or Panda doesn't help that either
>>63272506
I don't see it that way. I actually think it goes in a totally different direction. Yes, its sound is similar to Feels-era AnCo, but otherwise, I just don't make that connection.
now this is a fantastic album
heavily recommended
very despondent music all round
may take a few listens to get into
the sound is very strange- kinda post rock
the people in this band are into loads of music
and here their post rock love shines thru
very great
very great music
very great lyrics
very great
great great great
10/10
>>63272277
great choice, place to be is one of the best songs ever imo
>>63272526
decent, kind of generic but still pretty good
>>63273127
hell yes
>>63271403
good but not great
>>63271524
super nostalgic. i can get behind this
Future Islands - In The Evening Air is my personal 10/10 synth pop album.
the vocalist's voice is kind of weird, but if you let him grow on you, you'll get a pretty great listen.
the best songs, in my opinion are "Walking Through That Door" and "Tin Man."
>>63271403
Holy fuck we can finally get some Braids in here. Flourish // Perish is better b ut Native Speaker is great tho
f u c k i n g t h i s
>>63271403
Nevermind
Not trolling, imo the album doesn't have a single down moment, quality is consistently high throughout
Giant Squid - Metridium Fields
Why did he do it?
>>63272213
Thank you for making me discover this. I'm loving this so far.
>>63272478
incredible album, especially for its time
Has fantastic tracks while not taking itself too seriously
>>63274138
Definitely one of the best ablums of this decade.
>>63273451
Flourish // Perish is great but a bit subdued and quiet compared to Deep in the Iris. Although Deep in the Iris has some pretty clunky and awkward lyrics at times. It's the only Braids album where I've seen bad lyrics.
>>63272423
Everything they've done since Native Speaker and Set Pieces feels like a redundant Blue Hawaii project. I listened to Braids because I wanted Braids, not Blue Hawaii. :(
Now that Katie and Vince are both out of the band, they'll probably never make another album like Native Speaker again, which is kinda sad. They could've taken that formula and gone to so many places with it. Oh well.
The patrician choice. Electro-Aphex-glitch-pop Braids beats AnCo ripoff Braids anyday.
Such a unique sound on this album. This is the album that really opened up music for me and it's a personal 10/10 for me.
>>63271524
It's alarming to think about the fact that right after this, they released Forcefield, which blew hard. And now they're gearing up to release an EP, Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness, which I can already tell I am not looking forward to.
>>63274272
My nigga
>>63271403
God damn I love braids. What did you think about deep in the iris?
Agent Fresco - Destrier
Absolutely beautiful progressive metal / math rock stuff. Great voice.
>>63274630
see>>63274195
Instrumentally, it was a great improvement over Flourish // Perish, but lyrically, F // P wins hands down. One step forward, two steps back. But still, nothing they've done can beat Native Speaker.
The Sad Bastard Book Club - Another Family Dinner at the Saturn Residence Ends In Tears
[ Bummercore in the distance ]
16 Horsepower - Secret South
Gothic Americana / Alt Country
Sulphur Aeon - Gateway to the Antisphere
Lovecraftian / Blackened Death Metal
Matthew Good - Hospital Music
Folk Rock / Alt Rock
>>63274672
I completely agree with you. I felt like they were trying for a change in overall emotion with the album but fell shot on it's delivery. I see more "pop music" in it which I think is RSP attempt to create a warmer environment.
This album is deeply unnerving and violent and it's amazing
>>63274827
Thanks anon I feel affirmed in my beliefs thanks to that insightful post
>>63274827
thanks bud.
Another 10/10 of mine
>>63274657
Very good album, really unique
>>63274721
Was coming here to post 16 HP, i just think Low estate and Sackcloth 'n' ashes are better.
>>63274716
This is at least an 8/10. A true indie/emo masterpiece.
obligatory
>>63274716

not joking

>>63271403

>>63277220

it makes me smile ok
Perfection
>>63271455
Hey, unexpected good taste. But I've been complaining about that crap cover art since it came out. What a damn shame.
>>63271403
>>63279158
does it remind u of bros who vape
>>63279626
For an album that has a great deal of musical beauty, that cover just fails to convey what it is about musically. Sheesh, just so disappointed. (And on a different perspective) Wouldn't doubt the cover didn't help the album sales wise. either.
>>63279626
No one's going to look at that album cover and think he's vaping. It just comes off like he's patting himself on the back for smoking, it's basically "Dude weed lmao" the cover.
>>63279158
That's a really good album cover. Definitely fits the aesthetic of the album.
>>63279764
Ya, that just about covers (pardon the pun) it.
>>63279764
>>63279911
that's just because u spend too much time looking at memes
>>63278671
think again anon i'm coming for that booty
>>63275132
People are quick to call that album generic, which it is, but that doesn't mean it's not still highly enjoyable.
>>63280046
if adult jazz is generic i would love to hear more bands like them. any recommendations?
>>63279626
>>63279764

Video no longer there. But interesting. Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate the information.
>>63280081
Found video, copied link wrong. Thanks again. Helps understand cover, but I still think it an unfortunate choice. Still not as bad as I thought.
I always come back to this album and it always puts a smile on my face.
>>63271403
