It's great to see jazz in /mu/, but COME ON PEOPLE!
Show some balls and buy some different jazz already.

Share you're Top 10 jazz albums with me.

Here's mine:

1. The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady - Charles Mingus
2. Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
3. Headhunters - Herbie Hancock
4. Full House - Wes Montgomery
5. Juju - Wayne Shorter
6. Monk's Music - Theolonius Monk
7. Jazz in Silhoutte - Sun Ra
8. Birds of Fire - Mahavishnu Orchestra
9. Soul Station - Hank Mobley
10. Summun, Bukmun, Umyum - Pharoah Sanders

Here's a typical Top 10:

1. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
2. A Love Supreme - John Coltrane
3. Bitches Brew - Miles Davis
4. Time Out - Dave Brubeck
5-10 more Miles Davis and Coltrane because people are unoriginal PANSIES. That's right. PANSIES. It needed to be said.

What kind of world do we live in? One where 100's of people rate rock albums and about 5 rate most of the jazz albums. So very sad! Imagine a time when great musicians would get together and make an album of 6-8 songs of quality music that didn't have to be 4 minutes so they could be on the radio and SUCK. I love long run-on sentences of bitterness.

It's a fun way of discussing jazz. We all listen to the playlist without knowing who the artist is then post what we liked or didn't like about the tracks. If you want you can try to guess who the players are or what the album is.

what is the easiest instrument to pick up if I want to start playing jazz?
>>
>>63256941
drums
>>
>>63256941
the one that is least complicated to play and gives you more room for techniques
you could probably play jazz on a recorder if you wanted
saxophone looks real easy to play but I've never held one so I wouldn't know
