Truth. It was largely influenced by artists black and white like Hank Williams, Bob Wills and Louis Jordan. It was the mix of Country, Western Swing and Rhythm and Blues together that largely created Rock 'N' Roll and Rockabilly.
The impact of guys like Elvis, Buddy, Bill Haley and Jerry Lee Lewis can not be understated at this point of history. The fact that they were more popular at that time is neither here nor there 65 years later when the whole world gives mad respect to Chuck Berry and Little Richard.
