They are both on the cutting edge of modern UK dance music, just he transitioned from garage to house and house is slightly more plebbly but still just as good

I agree with you. I was quite excited to listen to In Colour and by the end I thought "really?" It feels very middle of the road to me. Sure it's a good album and it was well made because Jamie is very talented, but it never felt groundbreaking. Using the same sample as Chrome Sparks' song Marijuana to worse effect really put me off.
