What would you say is GOAT tier?
It always seemed pretty drab to me compared to other "post-rock" acts
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place and All Of A Sudden are really damn good. How Strange Innocence and Those Who Tell The Truth are also good.
Catastrophe and the Cure is their best song and one of my all-time faves.
They're also the perfect study music, to the point where most of their material reminds me of adderall and coffee
On a more general note, what does /mu/ think of the 3rd wave of post-rock in general?
They were my intro to Post-Rock and I only found out about the older bands after joining /mu/ and even then, with the exception of GY!BE (which is considered 2nd wave as far as I know) my fav post-rock bands are still from the 3rd wave, God is An Astronaut, This Will Destroy You, Mono, Maybeshewill, etc... But from what I can tell /mu/ quite dislike these new post-rock acts.

No but some of the albums are good, I like them. They are probably the most entry-level post-rock there is.

They're the one post-rock band normal people know.
pretty okay, standard, 3rd-wave post-rock
well orchestrated instrumentation, but very predictable, and way too many crescendos
i'd put them right in the middle of the pack when it comes to that kind of music. better than Powder! Go Away but worse than 65DaysofStatic
