If one person shitposts here hard enough, people (especially newfags) will piggyback the meme. It was Antz, an old tripfag from back in the day who hated Blur because of their supposed anti-americanism, who would spam "blur are shite" threads. Seemed to work well enough.
Nobody here will believe this, but once upon a time Blur were borderline /mu/core. Its a shame but whatever, its how meme culture works.

Hating Blur actually goes back before Antz to The Duke of Prunes back in 2012, but in both cases, there was a typical copypasta spammed that contained a bunch of false stuff about the band to make them look bad

People always liked blur very much here, then the anti-blur joke came along and everyone jumped on that meme. People were never disinterested in them.
In all my time on /mu/ I've never seen a negative post about /mu/ that is nuanced or gives them any credit. Any negative post is 100% "THEY ARE THE WORST AND BAD PEOPLE TOO". If the blur hate wasn't a meme, then people would talk about why they don't like them rather than shitpost every time.
