Who's your favorite female vocalist at the moment?
Mine would have to be Lyndsey Gunnulfsen from PVRIS
Stevie Nicks

the girl from Hop Along
I think 99% of female vocalists are boring or uninspiring
>>63182404
I feel this way about male vocalists, a lot of them sound too whiny, especially in rock
(there are exceptions of course, and the boring ones aren't necessarily bad)
>>63182404
somewhat true, accounting for the fact that 99% of female vocalists are pop stars. Anyone else tired of Adele ballads? the best would probabably be elizabeth fraser form the cocteau twins.

To me, female vocals always sound manufactured. I can tolerate whiny vocals if it seems to at least sound like it comes from a genuine place
>>63182471
Pretty much. Can you recommend a good track from Fraser if you don't mind?
>>63182552
Maybe whiny wasn't the right word, more like nasal, annoying. I don't really get the "manufactured" comment.
It's not about the gender of the singer for me, it's just easier to find women than men that sing in ways that I prefer.
Chelsea Wolfe
Chelsea Wolfe
Shirley Manson or....

...Brody Dalle
If we're going purely by vocals, and not some manic pixie deram girl /mu/ waifu bullshit, then pic related. Her voice is fucking perfect.
Sara Watkins
Always and forever, Bjork.

That's understandable. Manufactured = the worst side of pop in my eyes. Basically saying and singing anything just to appeal to as many people as possible
i'm really liking catherine ribeiro lately
jenny hval too

in my experience, there are generally far more great male vocalists than great female vocalists, but the greatest female vocalists are generally far greater than the greatest male vocalists
but i guess really it all comes down to preference
