TPAB showcases Kendrick's growth as an artist,from his ambitious arrangements to black music genre bending.
Compared to that GKMC sounds amateurish.
His lyricism is sharper on Good Kid tho.

Other than this, great lyricism paired up with amazing production, TPAB has some gems too, but I ain't into funk that much, appreciated the jazz etc... But if you can deliver some great content masking it as a regular 'banger' then you are a genius.

absolutely. I would argue that TPAB is more important musically, but not overall better than GKMC
Both albums are trying to do different things.
GKMC was masterfully structured and paced, and kept you interested with sweet hooks that you could blast at a party or a club.
TPAB dragged on, and didn't have a strong focus. There are fantastic tracks on it, and it showcased Kendrick's versatility as a rapper, but it wasn't as cohesive. It tried to do too much.
Both albums are wonderful, and I'm glad that someone in hiphop is actually trying.

Not even that, TPAB is about aknowledging both sides are somewhat guilty, be it the racists or the dindus who only confirm the stereotypes and do nothing but killing eachother... Literally the product of gang culture. If GKMC was an in-depth view of said culture from a 1st person perspective, TPAB focuses on a broader view, considering the whole spectrum: institutions, corruption, greed, racism and dindu culture.

How I feel about the 2 albums is this. GKMC has a lower average but peaks higher. But TPAB has a higher average but doesn't peak so high. No song is so much better than the other in this album. In GKMC there are like 4 songs that are so much better than anything Kendrick has done.
