What are the best cassettes you have in your collection? I am looking to buy some new or old cassettes. Any suggested albums? It can be bandcamps with cassettes or local bands.
Sufjan - Carrie and Lowell

Grave Face Records is selling BMSR's Dandelion gum on tape. They sent a small promotional poster, a pixie stick for some odd reason, a page from a book, a novelty TV show trading card, and a sticker when I ordered it
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine. Look for it in discogs or something, sounds so good on cassette!
The best cassettes are the ones you actually enjoy, obviously. Or are you just posing, getting hip cassettes to look hip?
>>62632229
nah senpai, looking just for good music in general, that is why I said suggestions not must haves or /mu/core
Not sure if its up your alley but run for cover records has some neat stuff

>>62634507
Not OP but I have a cassette player in my car, can finally justify buying cassettes
>>62634584
>ebay photo
fucking poser liar
>>62627973
Here's a suggestion: hang yourself.
The only good cassettes worth buying are the ones that are 4 for a dollar at thrift stores.

>caring about what other people buy and why
>middle school children

guy who told him to hang himself here;
i'm not the other guy. i don't care if op's a poser, he sould still hang himself.

I got all the same tidbits when I received Whirr's, 'Sway' on tape. They're trying to revive/rejuvenate 'tape culture'. It's a really forced and unnecessary thing, but if you were around when it was a thing, I guess it's neat. I wasn't old enough for tape trading, nor was I old enough for any kind of underground tape merchants, so the novelty is completely lost in me. My only experience was with the tapes in my local store, Recordhead. And Exclusive Co.. But I never went there when I was younger.

wew
>>62634912
that doesn't dismiss you from being a middle school brat
>>62630580
I have that! I also have the lost highway soundtrack which is really good! Man, I am addicted to buying cassettes at thrifts. Some are worth good money, desu.
>>62634972
Telling someone to hang themselves means I'm in middle school?
That's a pretty bold leap honestly.
>>62635010
not the dude you are talking to, dude, but dude telling some other dude to hang themselves is not cool, my dude
Old pic I got a lot of new stuff since
>>62635058
my bad freindo
>>62635060
nice collection! a lot of those always seem to be the most popular ones you find around at places, Cheap Trick and Prince are the ones I always come across. I always wondered why they chose bold red text over a white background for so many cassette releases
>>62635120
it is alright :)
>>62634917
Awsome, anon! lolol...
Not a poser at all. A true music lover.
>>62627973
Do you really listen to cassette tapes anon? Really? What's the argument here? is the quality better than an audio file? Are records too pretentious? Are CDs and walkmans not the itt thing yet?
>>62635198
they look nice and i think they're pretty neat
>>62635060
This is the correct way to purchase cassettes.... buying whole albums that you may not otherwise listen to, but since they are like 50 cents, why the fuck not?
>>62635189
Thanks!
>>62635198
Not OP and I don't really listen to cassettes however I do own them and have put out cassette tapes of my own.
Everyones reason is going to be different. I think some listen to cassettes for the same reason why anyone would listen to any format... vinyl is also an outdated but popular format yet there are much higher quality digital alternatives.
>>62635198
hi! I like to collect cassettes. They have bad quality, but I think they are just a fun hobby to have. Like coin collecting, fixing old cars, and models. The many different types of cassettes are fun too! The fact you can record over cassettes and make a new album is pretty cool! It isn't for everyone, and if I was convenience I just use my ipod for music. There is a lot of cool stuff with them though!
>>62635250
i agree with you, my dude
>>62635250
I've also got a shitload of all the classic hip hop albums! I personally love the thrill of the hunt and looking up the price after to check the rarity
Like pet sounds ain't cheap and neither is the chronic or all eyes on me. It seeks like hip hop tapes are the most in demand now
>>62635149
Thanks! I swapped out a lot of those with superior albums since I.e. Switched out the cure disintegration for a lot of the Genesis and depeche mode.
Some of my alternative lol
>>62635218
>>62635312
>>62635359
For sure, how much do you guy's pay on average for one?
>>62635481
I like to keep it under a dollar for older albums (if it isn't from this decade). Unless it is a rare album, which I might pay $5 for.
New cassettes that are either local or professionally put out, I don't go above $5 unless it is a special occasion.
>>62635472
I have been trying to pick up as many hip hop tapes as possible. I can't believe how expensive they are. I just got a Pharcyde cassette for $6 so that is awesome! Mind sharing what hiphop cassettes you have?
>>62635481
One dollar on average but I've gotten some dirt cheap.
>tfw found a Paul's Boutique tape in a bunch of old unused for many years lockers when I helped tear them down as a summer custodian help. And my dad gave me Animals one day randomly
really wanna cop Donuts on cassette, and my bro is really into post punk/ new wave so I bought him some of those on cassette for his b day
>>62635633
Donuts isn't terribly expensive for cassette. Stones Throw still has it around on their website I think.
>>62635578
Sure, would love to! I would really like some pharcyde and digable planets in my collection
If you don't have this your collection is shit.
>>62635816
That's quite badass
>>62635816
is this the only cassette you have
>>62635720
awesome tapes! I've been looking for Chronic for a long time
