G is still a 8.5-8.7/10 album btw. Its that type of album that I rarely choose to listen to but when it comes up I still enjoy it very thoroughly.
TLOP is p good too, i can see myself choosing to listen to it frequently but not sure if I am liking it more or less than Y. Even though I mainly liked the first half of Y and the first half got me into "IM FEELIN IT" mode.

I prefer kanye's production abilities over his rapping abilities. MBDTF and 808s shine out in that regard, although LR has his best lyrics EASILY, so I love it for that.

CD has his worst production by a country mile. the same drums throughout the album, overlong skits, kanye raps in the same way every track, almost every track is about religion or being black. it doesn't have any strengths besides being the first of its kind, and that doesn't matter now as it's been outshined in every way by his others.

I never got the hate for Graduation.
It's underwhelming compared to CD and LR, and it's far from the majesty of MBDTF, but there's nothing overly offensive about it. Has the same feel as the first two with some more pop influence and less impressive individual songs. Nothing to really shit on though, still a solid album.
literally the only Graduation tracks I can stand are Stronger and Flashing Lights

thats the problem. whereas the first two felt like impressive ventures into hip hop, graduation does nothing to solidy itself. its a collection of pop hits. 808s is kanye at his most emotional, mbdtf at his prideful, yeezus at his darkest, whereas graduation is yeezus at...a boring time of his life

For sure, I'm not claiming that it's not one of his less impressive albums, but it's really nothing to shit on. I'm sure at the time it was poorly received because of the comparison to the previous albums, but on the whole, and especially considering his more recent work, it's really a solid piece on it's own merit.

My question more is why people seem to detest 808s. Thats the one I never understood the hate for.
In the order that I will listen to and appreciate the most in about 6 months:

Graduation's one of my least favorites because I don't have much of a penchant for maximalist pop. I prefer introspective Kanye and while Graduation definitely has those moments a lot of the album really just gets by on the strength of its beats since its grandeur just misses with me. If it weren't for Yeezus it'd be my least favorite album of his lyrically. MBDTF also kind of invalidates it for me because it does what Graduation does thematically but turns it into overdrive while simultaneously diving into equally deep depressions, so the sheer overwhelming display of manic depression saves it for me despite it doing exactly what I attack Graduation for in far more cartoonish measure.

Coincidentally, 808's is my favorite because it's the polar opposite of Graduation tonally and commits harder to its aesthetic harder than perhaps any other album of his. It's sparse, isolating, dreary, and I want more of that. It's exactly where my musical headspace is at, and every single one of its artistic decisions sells that direction to me.
