Anyone have Bizarre Uproar's "Private Show II" or Grunt's "Survivalists", "Chance to be Cruel" or Swarm of Parasites"?
I'm looking to expand my PE library. Any recommendations?

Is there a better noise album than Flaregun?
Prob not boyz.
Here's a performance I did at a pre-inc festival in St. Pete

Is this the greatest noise album ever?
Nothing I see seems to ever match up to this record, even Dilloway's other solo material.
Also, do you guys know of any other albums that sound like this?
Just made this on a whim lads, enjoy

....very new yeah
So I like HNW well enough and I totally understand that it does something no other music does but can someone help me understand why there are people who feel the need to collect hundreds of HNW tapes? after you get a handfull of albums that the continuum of crunchy to creamy walls for a range of lengths I dont really see the point of collecting more purist stuff. The genre is inherently restricted to a limited range of variation before it becomes normal noise.

I think it all boils down to fetishism and collecting.

Guy who was going to put together the next compilation here, sorry to those who were legitimately interested, I'm not motivated to put it together any longer. On top of my own perfectionism and business with life and my own projects, most in this general just don't seem to actually care about noise and creativity. Discussion revolves around the same known artists but leaves no room for any other new artists or discussion about noise itself and concepts because of a retarded stigma against a fucking website, while the community here is too insecure to believe they actually know about noise and come together to differentiate between shit low effort noise and projects that contain conceptual /aesthetic worth. At the same time, several of the artists I've seen posting don't appear to want to try with their artwork, paying less than adequate mind to typography and design aesthetic. Elitism runs rampant, whether for cassette only/no digital releases or wanting everyone to spend their life putting together a label like Fernow did. People bitched at the last compilation because not everyone did their noise the same way (try actually listening to a well known noise compilation) and assumed that just because people did not post in the threads prior that they had no experience with them or noise what so ever, paying no mind at all to the projects included or their conceptual aesthetic. Not even five minutes after release we had people complaining about it being "genuine" like neckbeards. This one will be no different. It's gotten frustrating seeing the above, memes, and ironic crap all over the place – it seemed back in 2014 these would end up pretty comfy, but sadly it really isn’t. If I want to actually talk about noise, share my own projects, and collaborate with like-minded individuals who know what they're doing, I'd rather go to a different place of discussion. If you want to take up this compilation effort, feel free, my ideas/guidelines will be in the next post.

- Limit of 20 tracks
- One track per artist
- No track lengths over 10 minutes
- Quality is evaluated by the compilation organizer
- Compilation organizer will take care of some final mastering work
- Include an up to date link to where people can access more of your work
- Please pay mind to design aesthetic in whatever art you help contribute to the work, keeping typography, alignment, etc. in mind
- Please also submit a brief piece of writing describing the following:
* Your personal motivations behind making noise in general
* How your track relates to the concept at hand
There are no specific requirements for a style of noise. We had a couple of people get pissy last time because not every track was a harsh noise wall. You all know what noise is.Diversity in noise across artists on a compilation is appropriate, interesting, and certainly not a new phenomenon. The interesting part comes with associating the sound and art with the particular concept, even with style of noise that are different from each other.
Never finalized a concept, but had the idea to incorporate research on the part of the participants with regards to the conceptual event/elements in order for a comprehensive exploration through the titles and art, having each participant contribute a piece of art that would go into the final product. Sorry to bring negativity to the thread, but I want to let my frustrations here be known, and even if I weren’t, I’m not sure I would have been able to spend the time to get this going good.
>>62578961
I guess I should intellectually understand that even if I dont get it on a personal level
>>62578514
walls are life, i am not even joking.
>>62579848
Same. I get HNW on a conceptual level, but I don't get why so many people find an appeal in it. The cynic in me want to thinks that's because is even easier than regular noise to produce.

i'd like to hear your opinion

Man, he sounds nervous as hell. He says "like" close to a million times.
>>62579405
Amen. I totally get what you're saying, the attitude in these threads has gotten much worse. The INIM comps were better in spirit and quality (although still nothing stellar).
what sort of shit do people use to produce noise
I don't even know where one starts, or if you can even know where you're going
I only know a little about production from edm etc but I'm getting into noise
>>62580480
Look up "no input mixing" on youtube, and also contact mics, effect pedals... And keep an eye/ear open to everything around you, there is no wrong way of doing noise.
>>62580588
I have some idea that with ambient people know where they're going, is noise just laying crap until something cool happens?
>>62580697
It just depends. Using sound sources or instruments and modifying them with effects modules, then meticulously sequencing things together is what I do. If you've got a decent DAW that comes with even just virtual effects modules and instruments that allow you to actually work with them and learn what you're doing, you can start there. You don't need to be full analog, you just have to have a good aural aesthetic.
>>62580697
Well, with noise everything can work, that's the whole concept. But in my opinion, "good" noise comes from people who knows their gear and what they're doing. And I'm not talking about "concept". I see that word thrown around a lot in these threads but for me it doesn't make a good release. Who gives a fuck if your wall is about thighs or BDSM or whatnot. What matters is the SOUND, the composition, the musical intent.
But yeah sometimes you're just messing around and cool stuff happen magically. The art is knowing to capture and play with it.
>>62580815
what DAW's aren't shit on linux btw
everything seems like a broken mess
Don't know where else to ask, but I want to get into Merzbow. What should I start with?
>>62581009
Sphere is good to start. It has some rythmic/melodic aspects, doesn't sound like lo-fi shit and is still pretty noisy.
>>62581009
Music for Bondage Performance, Venereology, Flare Gun, Antimonument, Hybrid Noisebloom, 1930
all good for the Merz beginner. Flare Gun is my favorite of them (also my favorite album by him in general)

Thanks, I've been meaning to get into Merzbow for a bit but I haven't found anything to show me what's good to begin with.

I used to think there could be a balance struck between building a good board culture and not being pretentious as fuck, but I guess that's just the nature of this genre.

If I were you i wouldn't bother requesting anything, although shares are in my opinion the best thing about /noise/, people here seem to be more interested in their own bandcamp microprojects
not that there's anything wrong with that, but still leaving your post without replies is pretty bad, specially because i think everybody here would love hearing those grunt tapes just as you and me

that actually kinda doesn't surprise me all that much, I know he's involved in a diverse range of heavy music and he doesn't seem to be elitist about it in any way.
