I was just talking about this band's prospects last night and saying they'll be ok.
The story is weird - they went through the barriers of one of those bridges that opens for boats. But it's not one of those that tilts and you might try and clear it for laughs. The middle section raises vertically so if you drive off the edge you're definitely dead.

Been crew /roadie/ tech and have been in a few bands myself. Always pays to have two people at least stay 100 percent sober at all times. Every bit of sleep counted also. I remember being so tired once i laid down next to a drum riser and behind a Marshall stack and slept through two full sets.
Had one time driving to a gig in Texas where i woke up face first against the windshield after our van went off the road because the guy driving fell asleep. After we stopped and piled out of the van to check on things, we found out that we missed going into a ravine by about 3-4 feet. Needless to say, we were straight and alert until we got back home.
