I like it and I like the idea of a random record a month. I wouldn't do it though if you don't have some spare cash
>>
>>62510697
I looked into it a while back and even just to ship to Canada it'd be like 45 bucks US a month, which is absurd even if I were able to choose what I'm getting let alone getting a mystery album I might not even like.

Maybe within the states the price is more sane but I don't see how the little addons they include make it worth it when you could just buy albums you know you want

>tfw no real record stores in my area

There's this place called 2nd and Charles about 40 minutes away that sells a bunch of records, but it's mostly just overpriced Beatles reissues. I got these while over there.
>>
>>62511008
I signed up to get notified but I'm skeptical. The greatest part of Columbia House was constantly unsubscribing and exploiting their incentives to stay on so you could get shitloads of albums practically for free, I can't imagine they're going to still have those loopholes when they can gyp millenials for as much as they can.

I feel lucky to have 3 local record stores here in Madison Wi. Madcity Music Exchange has tons vinyl, and an inventory of used stuff that turns over well. I can find something new each time I go there. Their prices are super reasonable, new vinyl is only $1-2 above ordering on Amazon. If anyone is in the area I highly recommend checking it out.

>>
>>62511912
Fell for the AT meme.

It's a good turntable but kinda wish I went with a Rega or Pro-ject.
>>
>>62511912

Linear tracking.
>>
>>62512610

I'm disgusted, but intrigued
>>
>>62512439
I clean it out every 6 months to a year. It's easy, just remove the platter and sub platter, clean the sub platter shaft and bearing tube with a rolled piece of paper towel and a q-tip. Add 3-4 drops of Moble 1 synthetic oil as recommended in the manual, add a small amount to the sub platter shaft and put it all back together. This also applies to pro-ject, and rega turntables.
>>
>>62512610
Never listened to one of those, how do you like it?
>>
>>62512656

Why? I have one with a traditional arm as well, I can't hear any difference in sound. The only difference is that the linear tracking turntable doesn't skip as much on bad vinyl.

>>62512719

I like it, it's simple to use. There's supposedly less inner groove distortion but I've never heard it.
>>
>>62512815

How does it handle off-centered records? Does it go back and forth just like that, without resistance?
>>
>>62512656
Technically it would be better since it'd keep the tonearm at an optimal squareangle to the grooves. I have no idea if it affects the sound enough for it to really matter though
>>
>>62512847

I don't have any awfully off-center records, so I don't know. The arm can move about an inch to left and right.

Going through my grandparents old vinyl collection today and I found a monkees 45 made out of fucking cardboard, like as if it came out of the back of a cereal box. And it actually plays too; sounds like complete and utter shit but it plays. Anybody know anything about it/heard about it before?
