Actually, yeah, as a non-Christian (not an atheist, just not specifically Christian) I unironically enjoy Creed.

Those melodies and giant guitars are just too good. It's the kind of stuff that just makes you wanna be Christian. Though I imagine that's their whole plan.

Pretty sure that's implying you were once a nihilist, hence "no longer", and saying "I accept the Lord and Savior" implies you now accept the Lord. Which implies the two are mutually exclusive. Which is wrong.

Or are you speaking a different dialect of English that lacks syntax?

I think the fact that it's completely unheard of for actual Christians to be on 4chan speaks volumes on the hypocrisy of modern day Christianity.

Jesus ate and talked to prostitutes, thieves, and murderers. He instructed his followers to go into the world and be lights for it, not hide away in a church and circle jerk over religion.
>>
>>62456820
They're just stages, individually it can be different, but you tend to notice for a lot of people it's a similar path, assuming they grow past materialism
>>
>>62456806
If saying "I used to be a nihilist, now I'm a Christian" doesn't imply that they cannot coexist, which it totally does, then saying that sentence is like saying "I used to live in Hawaii, now I drive a Mustang." As in, if you're not trying to imply they're exclusive, then what the fuck is the point of bringing up your past nihilism?

Fuck.
>>
>>62456846
It's more that this website is heavily secular. I don't even know how you can believe that bullshit. Honestly. I don't mean that in an edgy atheist manner, but come the fuck on. Created the earth in 7 days? Okay.

>>
>>62456893
lolwut
This isn't about right or wrong, I'm just wondering why you thought bringing up nihilism was relevant when you yourself admit that you don't find them to be mutually exclusive. If you're telling me you agree with me, that someone can be both Christian and nihilist, then why mention it in the beginning?

Instead of trying to insult me, maybe try to see where I'm coming from.
>>
>>62456876
Well not every Christian believes that the earth was created in seven days.

For example, the "days" Genesis is talking about could justifiably be interpreted as meaning a long period of time (the same way we would say "in the days of Jesus" in English)
Considering that the sun and moon weren't created until the third day and that it never mentions the seventh day ended, I feel okay in believing this.

Ultimately, this hardly matters because a Christian's real faith is supposed to be grounded in the life and resurrection of Jesus

why is metalcore so commonly christian?

Fair enough, man.

In keeping the spirit of this thread alive, kind of an obvious mention but Theocracy is fucking radical, the kind of Christian metal that almost makes you wanna believe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVs2ulome_Y
>>
>>62456978
I agree, it can be dangerously dividing among believers but thankfully we have the Spirit to lead us now.

Of course, the scriptures should never be disregarded as having authority, it's just great to know Jesus comforted us by saying the world would recognize us by the way we love each other, not by who's interpretation of Creationism was correct.
>>
>>62456876
Like any piece of literature you have to understand the conventions with in the genre. The first few chapters of Genesis were poetry. Because poetry is a very symbolic artform it's not possible to hold it as objective truth unless there is other evidence. It's totally possible God created the world five seconds ago with a pregenerated history encompassing yoir memories and everything else. We can't prove it and ultimately it doesn't affect your salvation so why get hung up on that ine part?
>>
>>62457134
> the world would recognize us by the way we love each other, not by who's interpretation of Creationism was correct.

What a beautiful notion. I know this is a music thread but I think that's really neat. If only more theists followed this. That's the most important aspect of faith, recognizing that the details may be different for others but that we all share a common thread by merely accepting God in whatever way we interpret him/her/it. The version of theism I practice more closely resembles Zen Buddhism than Christianity but at the end of the day, my version of God and your version both refer to the same thing, and that's all that matters. I wish more people could treat God as a celebration than a burden. Good on ya, man.
