You have to start with rap that you can relate to. Rap is a huge genre wit tons of subgenres and fusions of other styles but if it doesn't resonate with you, you'll never like it.
Listen to the best rap album of all time, there's way more to enjoy on a musical level than the average hip-hop album and even Scaruffi gave it an 8/10.

Kanye's first few albums got me into rap because of his very musical (for lack of a better term) sampling, rather than a simple beat. Stuff off Late Registration was either catchy or very orchestrated (We Major) and from there I slowly moved onto other rap.
