Im sorry that not everyone is a NEET robot with that kind of time on their hands.
I listen to music throughout the day and usually have a dedicated listen to a new album along with playing guitar for an hour atleast

It diminishes the value of the music. If you can get everything out of an album on the first listen then there is a good chance that it's a shitty album.

what does listening to multiple albums you haven't heard before in one day have to do with whether or not you relisten to them?
>>
>>62413965

Plenty of incredibly talented musicians can't read sheet music, to be fair.
>>
>>62413817
Yeah. People should listen to more music. I think dentists should recommend it like they recommend flossing

You'd never be able to sustain that kind of relisten backlog, unless you're listening to the kind of music that doesn't need relistened, in which you're not doing the music thing very well.

there are actually talented musicians who can't play an instrument
I don't think John Mackey plays an instrument lol

Are there seriously people on this board who listen to less than five albums a day?

Am I being trolled?
>>
>>62416038
if you're listening to 2/3 new albums a day, that means you're listening to them only 1-2 at most. That's not enough to be able to fully grasp an album.
>>

not that guy, but most albums are only around 35-45 minute, even <30 if it's punk or punk-influenced.
>>
I work 55+ hour weeks and still have time for an average of one new album a day with room to listen to favorites during the week and on my single day off.

Usually create a list of new albums I'm going to listen to if I don't make a list list, I just randomly pick something that looks interesting. If I like it first listen, I'll listen to it again throughout the week. If I don't like it, I'll listen to it once more before deciding whether to keep the album or deleting it from my library.

Pretty effective and I've put a decent dent in my 200gb library over the past year.

If you're not listening to a new album at least every other day, you are worthless to this board.
>>
>>62416392

Wait so how many albums do you listen to a day?

Please say it's more than two.

Mr. Pizza Face would agree with me. He was way more baller than you.

Why does this guy think it needs to be a concept album to listen to it in one sitting? Am I being baited?

It seems like bait but I also can't tell since people on this board probably actually think this
>>
>>62416993
How do you know? Not all music has vocals. A large amount to a majority of good music has no vocals at all. However they all come in albums and are written as albums. Unless you're listening to compilation albums like a poptimist. In which case I reinstate my previous point.
>>
We have this thread all the time. People show up like "hurr durr I only listen to four albums a day lol ;)" and people freak out.

>>
>>62416104

Because that's how most albums are meant to be listened to unless you're listening to top 40 or half of /mu/core

ITT: Samefagging
>>
Only people who haven't attempted to write music don't understand the significance of listening to an entire album. It paints a picture of the state of mind the artist(s) was in when they wrote it. Even if it's not a concept album, there are connections between all the songs that adds to the ambiance of the music as a whole.

People who frequently jump from song to song from different artists are fucking sluts who like the pleasure of sex more than the pleasure of embracing a true lover and discovering all they have to offer.

>samefagging an argument with yourself

>>
>>62417997
Don't think that way anon, I'm 21 now. I started browsing here about 6 years ago. I stopped frequenting it about 2 or so years ago. I stop in every now and then if I'm bored or if I want to see /mu/'s reaction to something (like Kanye's album, in this case), and it's always so disappointing. Try picking up other hobbies to help you not come back here.

I need to post now to bump this, then I'll type my thoughts some more.
>>
>>62420344
Anyway, here's what I was going to type, but didn't want the thread to die on me in the meantime:

To answer the main arguments of the thread: I used to be like you guys. I always listened to stuff only in full albums, even if I was only interested in one song on it. In some cases I liked the album as a whole more, or began to like more songs. But after I left here, I began to wonder if it was really necessary. I'll say that I might be what some would call a poptimist, a term I once hated myself. A while ago I began exploring Vocaloid music more (and I'm sure some people have stopped reading are calling me a faggot at this point), I found that while it has many good albums, sometimes I just want to listen to a single song, or maybe a few, and maybe I want to listen to them in a row. When I was listening to drone, ambient, noise, whatever, that mindset would be unthinkable. Indeed, I still listen to full albums when I listen to those genres or stuff like it. But that's not necessary all the time. Some genres or artists make great songs, and maybe not great albums. That doesn't discredit the artist or genre, and doesn't make those songs not worth listening to. Having this mentality of "I must listen to stuff exclusively in album form" and looking down on people who don't is silly. I don't have as much time as I used to. I can't listen to many albums a day like I used to. I used to listen to as many albums a day as I possibly could, like the OP said. But now time is limited, and I need to be choosier. I still try to listen to new albums when possible, but it's not necessary. I'm starting to ramble and repeat myself but hopefully my point is clear. There's nothing wrong with only listening to single songs, or revisiting old albums you like. Feel free to call me a pleb, cuck, poptimist, or whatever your meme of choice is all you like, and disregard the rest of this in the process.

Also, what's the character limit now?
