really only death magnetic is bad, and that's largely because it was just a rehashing of old ideas. come to think of it load/reload might have been bad too, i haven't listened to either in years, but lulu and st. anger are fucking solid.

theres just something about the melodies and aggression meshing together on ajfa that does it for me. it fits perfectly. hardly a metallica fan, but this album is one of my top 5 hands down.

I'd call almost all Metallica records solid. Especially St Anger once you understand what the band was going through at the time, in fact that's my personal favorite. Load and Reload were so far removed from what they had done previously but there are a few good songs on here but both albums dont feel like a metallica record. Pretty much all the 90s were wasted by Metallica in my opinion.

Well, I would argue that the content was quite good, but the production was not and it was because they ditched bob rock and worked with Rick Rubin who's production methods are non-conventional to say the least. Look at the shoddy work on the recent MMLP2. The thing about bob rock is he can identify great ideas and pick the rose among the shit 9 times outta 10.

i love metallica's first three albums but i have a hard time getting into and justice for all. all the songs sound to similar and i hate the guitar tone used on 90% of the album.
i will say that and justice for all features the most impressive work by lars by far. the drumming is pretty bad ass
