Just picked this up today. It's a french reissue and they fucked up the art with fucking logos, but the record itself is in great condition. Sounds clean and isn't warped at all. It was on my wantlist for a long time, but once Bowie died I figured it was as good a time as any to finally pick it up.

I'm hearing a some clipping on vocals on a few of my albums but not on others. The ones I'm hearing it on are all original pressings from 67-95 so I'm wondering if they're just worn, if that's just a mastering thing, or if my counter weight should be adjusted. I have an SL-1200.

LP120 is the safest bet, hence why most people use it or the almost identical table it was modeled after. At a bare minimum, it needs a counterweight. Sound quality is one thing but with out a proper counterweight, you're potentially actively destroying your records

I recently found a copy of Mellow Gold in a record shop under the new section. Ended up getting it thinking it was to good to be true to see a repressing I hadn't heard about and it turns out I was right. In my ignorance I got a shitty bootleg on a marbled colored record that sounds like it's been pressed from a record recorded from another record rip. First time I've done this so I guess you live and you learn on this kinda stuff.
At least I learned that discogs can sometimes give insight into what you're getting yourself into. Hopefully the shop will exchange it for me.
