Can somebody explain why this album is hailed so highly? It's a mediocre album, and nowhere near Doom's best.

Madlib comes out through with the beats and Doom comes correct with the flow and lyrics. They synergize fairly well you're probably just too pleb to understand it
I personally like Mmm... Food but I can see how this is a more solid album.
Maybe it's just general taste that says this album is the best?

The two artists amalgamate perfectly with each other, creating a flowing piece of music that is rivalled by very few. It is the embodiment of what experimental hip-hop is, and should be. It took risks and attempted to sound like no other bit of hip-hop, i.e., experimental, and actually achieved it on every note.
Album cover is fucking dope though, and that's like 90% of it.
