Everybody knows that
Bowie owes a lot to his fellow musicians. Mick Ronson and Mike Garson contributed as much to his unique sound as he did.
But he is still special. He's definitely not a hack. He's a great collaborator.

Don't forget Bowie met Mott the Hoople and sat down and wrote All the Young Dudes for them in half an hour.
