according to scaruffi, these are the only 4 albums of the 2010s worth listening to
how does that make you feel
I like Tragedy.
>>61577821
>worth listening too
He doesn't make that claim at all son.
>>61577821
>famale pop and shitty tech death
lmao
>>61577855
8/10 = worth listening to
>>61577821
Geeeeee, I don't know anon, I mean people are allowed to have opinions but since they are in no way shape or form an objective truth why should I care about any of them? :^)
>>61577893
>scaruffi
>not objective
I still don't get why /mu/ takes this guy seriously
His opinions beyond the 90s are fucking horrible
>>61577821
pretty sure every 7/10+ album is recommended on the scruffy scale
>>61577899
> scaruffi
> objective
> relevant
> informed
Pick how many you want except scaruffi. Treat yourself f a m
the 2010s aren't even over yet and even if they were this claim would be hyperbolic
Scaruffi is a hobby-critic that /mu/ takes too seriously. Daily Starostin and Prindle threads when?
>>61577899
dumb weeaboo
>>61577967
try again bud
Normal person:
6: Passable
7: Good
8: Great
9: Awesome
10: Masterpiece
Scaruffi:
6: Good
7: Essential
8: Masterpiece
9: Getting a blowjob from Jesus
10: Doesn't exist
>>61577906
this
in rainbows is a masterpiece
>>61577899
> 2016
> not getting what objective means
You know, it's one year after last years current year.
>>61578007
what's the point of a 10 point scale if 10 doesn't exist?
>>61578022
Basically so you can feel smart because you realize true perfection is unattainable etc
>>61577962
because scaruffi has pretty good taste and more importantly his website is very comprehensive as opposed to prindles
starostin is literally rolling stone-core
>>61577860
>not understanding scaruffi's ratings
>>61577860
7+ means worth listening to
8+ means listen to ASAP
>>61578063
well then i'm going to add .5 to all his scores
what's he gonna do about it
>>61578010
hahahahaha holy shit you absolute fucking pleb
>>61578069
Prindle covers an interesting niche though, which is better than having a generic overview of popular music filled with revisionist history, opinions masquerading as facts, etc. Scaruffi provides a slightly more interesting take on the standard rock canon, might as well read AllMusic desu
>>61577821
The ArchAndroid is one of my all time favorites so
>>61578153
Great retort faggot
>>61577821
>implying Scaruffi still reviews any albums who aren't merely avant-guarde and leaves to his "staff" all of the others genres of music.
Seriously, go on RYM and check on Pistachio, then compare his rates.
>>61578171
>opinions masquerading as facts
example?
>might as well read AllMusic desu
allmusic is comprehensive but the website is pointless, the scores are almost arbitrary
with scruffy you can at least derive your own conclusions from his reviews because of his frequent parallels+consistency
Nah. 6/10 is just passable on Scaruffi's scale, 6.5 is decent albeit flawed, and 7 is good/solid
>>61577821
they're good albums but there are probably albums that can stand amongst them yet to be rated by emperor scruffles
>>61578367
like TPAB
>>61577962
>Starostin
never heard of him, is his taste is good?
Scaruffi has pretty great taste, Prindle has inconsistently good taste but is funny at least.
>>61578308
>example?
The famous Beatles pasta, for one. For starters, the stripping away of the black elements of rock music was a process that began with Buddy Holly, and probably even earlier than that, to blame the Beatles for the gentrification of rock is inaccurate, and mostly comes across as a cheap way to cause controversy. Also, it seems weird that he would even raise that complaint, given that he likes honky-ass shit like Rock Bottom.
Don't feel like trawling through his website for more and honestly I'm probably projecting the attitude of his fanbase onto the man himself
Honestly, I don't care much for allmusic either. Mostly I use the RYM custom charts to find new stuff anymore.
>tfw the next album to get a 9/10 from Scaruffi is 100% guaranteed to become /mu/core
>>61578509
>is his taste good?
Sorta, I guess. Mostly he's a Beatles fanboy but I found some interesting stuff through his website back in the day. He's consistent, anyway. You kind of just have to ignore his asinine rating curve for artists and go on the individual ratings he assigns to albums. Haven't checked his new blog out, but here's the old site if you're interested: http://starling.rinet.ru/music/index.htm
>>61578543
>18 years since last 9/10
i'd be satisified with 8.5
hoom became /mu/core (would have anyway, probably)
>>61578543
For perspective, the last album to get a 9/10 was Hash Jar Tempo - Well Oiled
That was in 1997.
Only album to get above an 8 since then was Have One On Me.
What will he give Divers?
>>61578660
Not less than 7.
Not more than 8.
>>61577906
He is also a flamming libtard too. Some of his recomedations are OK but his taste in music can be questionable sometimes.
>>61579059
He's not so easily pigeonholed, politically.
Sure, he's left of Trump, but so is everyone with an iq over 50.
Janelle Monae is such fucking trash it's unbelievable
>>61577821
I still haven't heard an album that even comes close to HOOM from this decade, not sure about those other three though. I'd probably replace them with Slow Focus, MurmuĆ¼re and The Way Out.
>>61579059
Have you even read his political articles?
