Does anyone else think that this guy's favorite albums are all really great, but his 8-7 range are kind of trash? He has a lot of shitty albums in this range, but his 9+ are all really good
I guess he's just being objective. Most "mediocre" albums that are widely discussed are still very competent overall, the truly mediocre or bad stuff we don't even hear about.

I agree. I haven't listened to all of his 9s but all of the ones I have were either good, amazing, or at least decent. They are also all albums that generally take more than one listen to get.
The majority of his 8.5s are good too, when you get below that is when his taste starts to get very questionable. His 5-6.5 range is terrible.
