Honestly? Motorhead. Now hear me out: I don't like metal. But Tarantino's whole thing is taking lowbrow trash and simple references to old popcorn movies and TV shows and molding them into something greater.
Motorhead is much the same way in that they're trashy, and crowd pleasing, and made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. But then they throw in things like "Assassin" or the lyricsl content in 1916 and Don't Let Daddy Kiss me and you realise these chumps are more than meets the art. Not "high art" but definitely re purposing low art into something bigger than the sum of it's parts.

Nobody thinks Tarrantino is deep or challenging, the people who watch his movies and like them don;t think theyre watching a fucking 5 hour french documentary and the beauty and fragilty of life you twaster. His movies are fucking cool and stylish. They are unique and and influential. Even if you don;t like them, they are films that any film buff needs to have seen because there is nothing else quite like them.
Tarrantino is a fucking film encyclopaedia and all his films are pretty much just collages of obscure films of genres nobody watches anymore, they borrow very heavily from a lot of other stuff but also are pretty original. Im not sure what musician to compare that to.
