No 2015 AOTY thread? Personally these 4 were the only albums that stood out to me.
>>61440941

Bjork and Beach House reached goat levels.
>All these Depression Cherries

Lower Dens made the best Beach House album of the year.

Pleb question, but what site do you use for this layout? It's not on topsters, is it?
>>61440941
Seriously
I mean I haven't listened to much 2015 shit but there really were some good albums.
Accidentally deleted my collage, so here's a list (and a qt) instead:
https://rateyourmusic.com/list/wawbax/albums_i_enjoyed_in_2015/
Wouldn't mind recs for some 2015 albums, if no one minds

Try Daniel Norgren - Alabursy if you haven't already
>>61441508
Nice, listen to Father John Misty - ILY Honeybear

it's too big for 4chan so there's the link.
I tried to divide it into genres so you can search for recommendations by yourself.
2015 was an amazing year for music imo
Here is my Top 20
>>61443001
Listen to Scallops Hotel - Plain Speaking if you haven't yet. It's Milo's side project.
>>61442928
best ITT
This was actually my #2, but without a doubt the most underrated album of last year. In terms of an undiscovered-to-quality ratio, this album is criminally underappreciated.
>>61442531
Collage on topsters, yeah.
>>61443192
This is a nice list.
>>61443282
I didn't like it that much. Just felt ordinary, but a good ordinary.
p good year desu
>>61443325
Ordinary? I thought it was one of the most unique things I heard last year. If that's ordinary then I'd love to know what else sounds like it.
feel like this year was pretty bland
>>61443456
It felt a bit too generic-indie-pop-dance to me, but I should really give it another listen.
>>61443506
Same with last year, I think that most of the shit that critics have been going nuts over has been exceptionally bland. I feel like the only stuff I've been able to enjoy these past couple years has either been panned or just unacknowledged completely. Lot of bandcamp and obscure label stuff.
But shit like Tame Impala, Beach House, FJM, War on Drugs, etc. is just that, shit.
>>61443552
Please do. It skirts across genres from psych pop to dance to ambient in a few sections. That's actually one of the reasons I like it so much.
My picks, but I don't listen to too much varied music unfortunately.
>>61443856
I'm an idiot
>>61443506
Agreed, 2015 was a fairly bad year, anybody that's saying it was good should just look at the amount of shit this AOTY thread has.
>>61443890
You're not an idiot YOU'RE A FUCKING PSYCHO!
>>61444085
Are you referring to the amount of bad albums, or the amount of albums in general?
>likes indie music
Jesus Christ I had to sit through a father John misty concert at Coachella festival because he went on before tyler the creator and I almost fell asleep it was so fucking boring. I was also right in front of the speaker so it was loud as shit, one of the worst concerts I've ever been to.
>>61444323
>likes Tyler, the Creator
>has any right to talk shit
I don't even like FJM, but goddamn
>>61444323
>likes Tyler the creator
>criticizes other music
>>61444513
I had nothing better to do because jack white hadn't come on yet and I wasn't gonna go to the shitty rave tent
>>61444559
Bad baits.
>>61444559
Jack White is still shit dude, apply yourself
>>61444785
Yeah I realized that when I went to go see him I hadn't really listened to anything off his solo albums besides the singles. The only memorable part was when he played 7 nation army at the end
>>61444179
The amount of bad albums that are showing up on these end of year lists. You got people posting Currents and even Drones ffs
2015 was the weakest year in music so far this decade
My top 5
>>61445127
Tastes in music are subjective. You can hardly say that Drones and Currents were poorly made, and well Drones is admittedly not one of the objectively best albums, it stood out in what I have listened to from this year. I even included that my tastes in music are somewhat limited.
>>61445821
Oh sure thing, I get where you're coming from but at least personally I was a big fan of Tame Impala's and Muse's early stuff and both albums that came up in 2015 were massive disappointments. Drones just keeps going with the downward spiral Muse got in after Black Holes and Revelations. As for Currents although I appreciate the attempt to keep moving forward with their sound I think the bands efforts were fairly misguided and ended up with an album that wasn't particularly cohesive and overall underwhelming. My point being neither of those even come close to "best of the year" material when you have stuff like Vulnicura, Have You in My Wilderness and Poison Season out there.
>>61445108
good choices, whats the one in the middle right square tho?
>>61446248
I understand where you're coming from with Muse too. Absolution is easily one of my top 5, but Drones was better than fucking The 2nd Law at the very least, if you ignore Dead Inside. As for Vulnicura, Have You In My Wilderness, etc., that's honestly music I'm still learning to like.
First from Grimes - Art Angels.
>>61441551
You are in no position to judge OP when you only listened to pitchfork approved bands
>>61446280
Death Grips - Jenny Death
>>61442928
good taste general?
>>61444886
>>61444559
