Gary is pretty cool. I saw one of his first live shows after his comeback at a tiny bar, that was really great. I haven't been a huge fan of his stuff after Mary Had Brown Hair but that and You Think You Really Know Me are neat enough that I don't mind.

Definitely. It's been a great year for noise, but 2016 may even be better, since the Jun Togawa and Hijokaidan collab album is coming out soon, which I'm incredibly excited for, and Kazumoto Endo is also releasing a new album

I like it's production despite the flak it gets, the songwriting is good, I heavily enjoy its aesthetic, etc.
I don't really care to defend it in greater detail because someone will probably just call me a contrarian or whatever, I just think that it's legitimately that great. It's not actually a straight up '5/5' (nor is any album in my opinion), but it's definitely in my top 5 albums of all time.
I'll just say that it took me a long time to really appreciate it completely, and I definitely wouldn't expect anyone who isn't already a major fan of Animal Collective to enjoy it that much I guess. If you ask me, it takes a few listens with quality headphones, and I highly recommend listening to the live versions because they really help identify samples and sounds that get somewhat lost in the studio production.
