Question is still valid.
>>61362522
The time signatures, samples, recording styles, mixing techniques, "instrumentation", is almost indistinguishable. I can sit through one song and can not tell the difference from one artist to another. I can't tell what makes each artist unique
>>61362578
>speaks only of cliches
I guess you are right, but there are some artists that are lesser known that are pretty good like Tycho
>>61362693
Lol
Most EDM sounds the same to me but synthpop, dubstep, industrial, and hip hop sound different to them and within the genre too.
>>61362578
maybe you just have cotton balls in your ears mate
>>61362719
thats what EDM is m80
>>61362715
dubstep and Industrial sound the same to me.
not sure why.
I can see where OP is coming from though, their probably only talking of edm
>>61362733
EDM != all electronic music
>>61362756
Kek true
Is this a joke
Half of all electronic genres can be summed down to a couple though
>>61362921
Same with most genres.
art music
jazz
traditional folk
r&b/funk/soul
rock/metal/punk
pop music
electroacousmatic
electronica/hip hop
noise
field recordings
And most of those are just pop.
>>61362975
how can pop really be a genre if the taste of a decade or generation changes? At one point, every music genre was pop in a way. Mostly because they had been widely recognized
i mean if these all sound the same to u should learn a little nuance? this is just scratching the surface too - very shallow summation on my part desu.

>>61363157
>Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production, an electronic musician being a musician who composes and/or performs such music. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology.[1]
Its a pretty meaningless label desu

That has the most stolen breakbeat drum sample of all time, the amen break. still good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcac
>>61363175
Yeah. It's more a process of creation than something to describe how it sounds.
>>61363175
that's why as much as /mu/ whines about "waahhh! all these pedantic and overly specific genres! fuck u turny!"' it beats just saying "electronic music" by an incredible margin. too vague and expansive.
>>61363204
Especially when you consider how overly pedantic and specific /mu/ gets with rock.
>>61363191
mate, i know about the amen break...
one of the cornerstones of dnb, breakbeat hardcore, jungle, the list goes on... they all fall under the "breaks" category and often utilize it. if u can't beat it, just use it, y'know...
>>61363191
I just walked past the TV and I hear the amen break in some documentary.
