Been listening to these a lot lately

John Adams, Doctor Atomic

Opposite to popular believe, the 20th century was a pretty good century for classical music imo
>>
Someone give me a good minor key theme to use as the refrain for a string quartet rondo
>>
>>61315964
Oh I forgot to mention, it's in common time

I had a similar idea, probably going to use this one. Feel free to steal though
>>
>>61315964
But if we write your theme for you, it will no longer be your piece.
>>
>>61315980
Well, that settles that

It's just a theme, I already have the B and C sections written just need an A section to go between them and all the potential themes I've written aren't 'catchy' enough, and don't have much room for variation

holy shit OP, I don't have time or space for all this

You don't have to download the whole thing, you know?
>>
>>61316016
A theme is a pretty substantial part of a piece of music. If you can't write something memorable, getting other people to write for you isn't going to help.
>>
>>61316188
but I have so little classical music on file, there's no reason for me to not download it all

Why are string quartets the most patrician pieces of classical music?

Total kitsch.
It's pretty weird when you realise that commie countries produce the worst kind of consumerist kitsch.

I can't seem to get into any classical that isn't romantic. From the romantic point on, I feel like there was just so much more emotion in the pieces.

Am I completely wrong? I know there's a lot of music, but it seems that everything I check out (even by famous baroque or classical composers) does not tickle my fancy.
>>
>>61318250
I have the opposite problem, i only like baroque stuff
>>
>>61318250
Baroque is more emotional than classical and renaissance, but it expressed deeper, religious emotions. Major baroque composers were churchmen and priests. Major romantic composers were depressed, sad individuals. Romanticism is a bit more superficial and much more decadent.
>>
>>61318250
I can understand how'd you have a hard time getting into classical period works, but the baroque is just fucking full of pathos.
>>
>>61318343
>>61318385
Interesting. Could you give me an example of some Baroque composers (maybe some pieces?) with emotional pieces?
I must admit I haven't researched it thoroughly, which does seem to be required when taking up the hobby of listening to classical music.
