tfw found moon madness original pressing in almost perfect condition at the flea market for 4 dollars
currently listening to this, im on The Letters right now.
Been a fan of The Court and Red, so I decided to listen to the whole KC discography chronologically, loving it so far
Can is technically prog rock but I know a lot of autists will argue with me. Who gives a shit though, I just discovered them and I'm loving life
Mirage is a fantastic album, if you haven't listened to any other Camel, I would recommend Moonmadness, Rain Dances, and Rajaz
You also might like In The Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan. The singer for that was in a Camel album
>>61246321
it's actually fairly easy to pick up cheap prog in decent condition because prog was fucking huge back in the 70s.
I picked up Tarkus, Foxtrot, Mirage and A Saucerful of Secrets and still had change from a tenner.

The entire Canterbury scene is absolutely fantastic.
Egg, Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt, Caravan and Caravan are great.
I really need to dig deeper into the deeper cuts of that scene, but right now I'm so happy I discovered the ones I like at the moment.
>>61246378
I've been trying to hunt down Tarkus for ages. I've got Trilogy and Karn Evil 9 but I MUST COMPLETE THE COLLECTION
>>61246469
honestly I'd easily sell my copy for peanuts considering I think Tarkus is shit, I just got it because I'd heard good things about it and hadn't given it a listen yet.
>>61246521
Well don't feel bad, Tarkus is one of those songs you either absolutely love, or think is pretentious wankery of the highest degree
I say song instead of album because even I admit that side 2 is trash.
>>61246262
Should I feel bad for liking their first more than Mirage
>>61246593
>"Should I feel bad about being subjective with music?"
absolute masterpiece
>>61246646
Three Friends is pretty great too
Any other essential GG albums? I've only listened to those two
>>61246690
S/T
>>61246593
Probably, the last ten minutes of Lady Fantasy are absolutely fantastic and you need to give it another spin.
I'm not listening to anything right now.
Favorite album of all time is Thick as a Brick.
Prog album of the year is pic related.
>>61246701
this
I'm going to listen to pic related in a bit.
>>61246646
I've only listened to In a Glass House and it was pretty good, where do I go from there?
>>61246706
Is it weird that Lady Fantasy is my least favourite song on that album? All of the songs are great but out of all of them, I get the least out of that one.
been very into japanese prog recently, spinning this atm
>>61246690
basically everything up through Interview is phenomenal imo. In A Glass House is a brilliant concept album
>>61246788
S/T and Octopus, then Three Friends
Why is this so underrated
>ABSENT LOVERS
>ABSENT LOVERS
Prog AOTY
Larks Tongue is pretty awesome. And I agree who ever said that this album is difficult to give a specific classification.
>>61247113
>"JUST MAKIN EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MUHNAY"
>>61246891
Three of a Perfect Pair even moreso
>>61246891
Why is this completely underrated?
It's a bunch of old guys trying to make dubstep and it's fantastic.
>>61246396
Maybe
Fish out of Water is close
Every Yes fan should check out Patrick Moraz's first solo album too.

>What is your favourite album of all time?
Cardiacs - Sing to God
>What is your album of the year?
Various Artists - PC Music Volume One
>>61246347
>Can is technically prog rock
As much as saying Gorguts is technically Black Metal
>>61246593
You shouldn't feel bad for liking things, however, Camel are one of the not particularly good progressive rock bands, so as long as you don'tt promote them a lot and are aware of their actual quality it's alright.
All you GG fans.. you want this one. Shit i'ma listen to it right now.
just representing Finnish prog here
I recommend checking out Tasavallan Presidentti to any fans of Canterbury Scene -style prog

pic related... great album
>>61247806
Thank you friend, and Merry Christmas to you!
>>61247764
no idea why so many people prefer the first 2 GG albums, imo they hadn't come into their own yet
>>61248180
Their self titled is their worst, but also my favorite.
I always saw all Gentle Giant albums as being equally enjoyed by people though.
>>61247806
Kingston Wall is God tier
I keep forgetting how great Thick as a Brick was.
Also everyone needs to listen to Minstrel in the Gallery, or more notably the track Baker Street Muse.
It is probably my favourite 'prog' song of all time.
>>61247697
Mods pls ban this fucker already
>>61248226
One of my favorite albums of all time
Kingston Wall is CRIMINALLY underrated
>>61248621
The worst thing is that he's making Cardiacs fans look bad when Cardiacs are a pretty good band.
>>61248639
They have seemed to get some deserved recognition recently
Partialy by me
Jethro Tull's woodwinds are GOAT. Anybody catch the prog spoof on Bill Burr's Netflix show F is for Family? Led Zeppelin doubles as well.
>>61248639
Kingston Wall isn't underrated in the slightest. They get mentioned on almost every prog thread.
>>61248621
Cry some more
>>61248661
How exactly am I making Cardiacs fans look bad?
I fucking love this album
>>61247180
Great, you quoted a track. Whaddya want?
>>61250358
Money
>>61250894
Fantastic group, one of my favorites. They are coming back for another quick tour of America in April/Mayish
>>61251109
Are they coming to Seattle?
>>61250825
>>61250848
>>61250894
all terrible compared to Genesis
kyle!!!!
>>61251259
Full schedule hasn't been released but I would assume they are since they did earlier this year and from what I hear this tour will be very similar to the last one.
>>61247180
The live version in YouTube from 1972/3 is so good. I prefer the studio harmonized vox are great but I appreciate both versions.
>>61247570
This guys got the right idea. Fish out of water is so good.
I cannot stop listening to Moon in June
>>61251456
>Remember that distance tells us lies.
The backwards electric violin solo is to die for. Never heard anything else like it.
>>61251456
soft machine is love
