this is only highly praised because its another example of a black person criticizing whites, etc and so modern society bend over backward to accommodate and praise mediocrity to seem progressive.

>you can go ahead and save the jpg below
he actually did it
the absolute madman
>it's a png
>>
>Black artist criticizes blacks and his own instrospection

>White kid from /pol/ gets offended about shit without actually listening to the album at all

Hmmmm....
>>
>>61239313
lol when did he criticize whites? have you always been this stupid?
>>
he didn't criticize whites at all on the album. all he did was talk about being black and being from the hood
>>
>>61239313
There's only so much backlash against this album because whites cannot handle any level of criticism.

it's true. he criticizes black people way more than white people in this album. I can't tell if people are memeing or just that retarded
>>
>>61240838
Also
>critics who didn't actually listen to the album praise it for "telling white people to sit down and shut up" etc. pitchfork.jpg
>>
>>61240928
It is because most of the people on /mu/ are fucking stupid and can't read into lyrics at all. Instead the regurgitate P4K's shitty interpretation of it that they posted in their review.
>>
This album critiques the whole "blacker than thou" mentality that the whole black lives matter movement is intoxicated off of.
It doesn't bash on whites. It's about seeing someone as an individual with no regards to race. Do people actually not get the lyrics in The Blacker The Berry? Anyone misinterpreting this album as "death to whitey" is listening just as superficially as all the college kids who thought Swimming Pools was a drinking anthem.
>>
>>61240991
the poems bookending tracks beg too much patience. rhyming fan with fan - yeah, i can see why people can't "read into" these bars: they're fucking weak. the conversation with 2pac is probably the most cringe shit i've known a mainstream rapper do since rick ross crashed his car on purpose and claimed to have chased by hitmen

>>61241100
>implying it wasn't the anthem for making bad decisions
>>
>>61241100
Imagine how aggravating that must be for Kendrick, that people keep misinterpreting his shit
>>
>>61241144
Swimming Pools is a mock anthem. The character in the song has romanticized that lifestyle due to the mentality that those sort of singles actually provoke. Did you listen to the ending verse when he pleas for someone to just feel bad for his new appetite for failure right before his friend gets shot to death for being so mixed up in that lifestyle? >>61241150
Yeah that's frustrating for any writer but he knows putting those sort of messages in mainstream hiphop will get misinterpreted. The flipside of the coin though is that he is getting those messages across to a few kids who don't read or have any serious media intake so that would be satisfying enough to get past all the people falsely hearing what he's saying.
>>
The album is boring musically and making criticisms about it based purely on race just feeds into peoples beliefs that this is a good album. Its boring, has uninspired beats, mostly poor or mediocre lyrics, and the cringeworthy "interview" with 2pac at the end make it bad without even bringing up how white fans who have been listening to him since before Section.80 feel alienated by its content and how some lyrics can be construed as him disliking how some white people listen to his music. Its very easy to talk shit about this album without bringing up race and will make the valid criticisms of TPAB more valid in the eyes of those who hold it up as the greatest album of recent memory and even those who compare the song "Alright" to the songs of the 1960s civil rights movement.

pretty sure the radio version cut that part out
