Gave a couple of your tracks a listen. The samples are bizarre to say the least but I got hooked after that change halfway through the first track. Nevertheless, I think you could put a little more thought into it. Some of the sounds seem out of place especially the synth pads which worked well on the first track but I felt lacked a bit on the other.

Watch that audio clip man, it detracts from your brilliant songwriting. And even though I'm a huge fan of quiet vocals, it wouldn't hurt to turn up the volume a tad bit.

LOTS of potential. I would just say work on your mixdown unless that gritty lo-fi sound is what you're going for.
>>
>>61233167
Yeah that definitely occurred to me but it's pretty legible when viewing a larger version and I kind of like the effect of the reduced visibility but thanks for the feedback! On other album art I've been working on that's much less of a problem
>>
>>61233569
Thanks, I appreciate that.
>>
>>61233735
>audio clip
do you mean the small clips where i've looped sections tracks, or the samples? i've washed the desire to use voice samples out of my system and i won't be using any digital loops in future releases because they do sound quite artificial and it's easy to get clipping.
as for the mixing, i just didn't know what i was doing and still don't entirely. i wanted the vocals pretty quiet but not totally inaudible. and i don't particularly want a gritty lo-fi sound. i think there's less of that in my second record. the first record is really poorly executed and i'm not particularly proud of it.
thank you very much! i truly appreciate your encouragement as i'm certain others do too.
>>
>>61233988

I'm currently trying to record a verse over a different instrumental, but goddammit I cannot rap.

I'm digging the vocals desu.
>>
>>61233988
>>61234025
Sorry I wrote that before I had listened past the first song. By clipping I mean like when the audio is too loud to the point where it causes kind of that fuzzy sound. I'm fairly new to mixing so I'm sure I'm not explaining this well. Have more faith in your music though! Be proud of your accomplishments even if you think they're sub-par. You are your biggest critic; I think your work is fantastic.

There's no way to properly make music. Also Ode to Joy is one scale and you hear it every Christmas. Everyone has their own songwriting process, it just takes a lot of time, patience, and frustration to find inspiration.

I would at first recommend learning your instrument. Look up videos online, buy method books from a local music store, take lessons or self-teach. Once you have a few chords down you can start branching out and playing what you think sounds like what you want to produce as an artist.

It's not always clear, but you'll eventually develop your own style and musical ingenuity. Just put a little trust in yourself and work at it.

Also you're kinda in the wrong thread. If you want more advice on this I'd say make your own thread or go on a Google adventure.

I dub over old cassettes no one wants anymore.
Cassettes available for free with $5 shipping in the states.

thanks homie, that's one of my favorites too. I'm glad you made it that far. And it is all me, writing/playing/whatevering everything.

>>61234391
Fuck yes saxophones. Obviously psych has some connections to jazz but I do so love hearing sax outside a strictly jazz context. Loving the jammy feel of this, good shit.
>>61232996
Mostly awesome, sometimes meanders a little do much and doesn't go anywhere. Something about your album art/general art direction screams Evanescence to me, which is funny because this shit's quite a bit better than Evanescence.

i'd love to put together a physical thing but i don't really have the funds. i could probably whip up a nice cassette but i'm based in aus and it looks like you're in the states so it'd probably be pretty steep shipping

>>61235259
Evanescence is the last band I would ever liken myself or my music to. Haha.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Here's a brand new song, a cover of "Silver Bells" to put you in the holiday spirit. The writer of silver bells was born in our hometown of Salamanca NY. So we thought it'd be fun. We put a twist on it.

so far from what i've experienced with international shipping, it is around... $15. Not sure what that would be in your currency. If not cassettes, cds are usually easier to ship! Just a fun idea though!

Hey folks. I recently compiled a compilation of all the songs I've written this year using lyrics given to me by the users of /mu/.

It's not amazing or anything, but I'd love if you guys gave it a listen. It's been a good year. Thanks.

1st track was kinda boring, but the 2nd track was pretty bumpin'. track 4 was the best because it was the closest to being harsh.

overall i thought this was pretty cool but I wish it was more harsh because i love harsh noise. but you do you man

i swear to christ this ain't my Bandcamp; I found it looking for .gifs of tayne from the tim & eric celeryman skit (and I sure did) but in the process also found some incredibly groovy skramzy/post-hardcore/mathy jam rock stuff. vocalist reminds me a lot of ATDI. best unintentional find i've had in a while

As a huge math nerd, I love this. Speed Wobble does a pretty good job mixing falsettos with normal voice - it's a style that suits your vocalist more than the strictly clean style of Full Stop.
A little more overdrive on the guitars would go a long way if you'd want the sound to be a little more accessible, but this is a purely subjective view - it still sounds awesome!

The vocals kind of remind of We Landed on the Moon, who were a cool band that you should check out if you don't know of them. This is a lot more mathy though. I dig.
