Should i cop?
>>61207051
how's the condition?
seems about the average price an original goes for on discogs
Just picked up Fucked Up Inside
Recently picked this up.
Christmas present from the gf this year
Anyone in SoCal know good places to buy vinyl? Getting a qt 3.14 hipster girl that's taken a slight interest in me an album or two she's obsessed with on vinyl. Think I could just get away with going to an Urban Outfitters?
>>61207833
Maybe......if shes a hipster pleb!!!
Jsut bought some stuff but don't have the time to take pics so I'll jsut list it
>Neu - Neu!
>Steve Hackett - Please Don't Touch!
>The Nice -Five Bridges
>The Flying Lizards - s/t
>Spanadu Ballet - Diamond
MY 3 most recent purchases. I only just got into collecting vinyl this year, already bought way more than I should have. My net step is to upgrade turntables to a better unit.
Haven't bought anything recently but my record store has a sale on boxing day so I'll probably pick up some things.
>>61207051
It's bootleg. There was never an official release for Ex-Military. Don't buy it.
>>61206937
>hasn't even opened The Money Store
>is spinning a record that isn't The Money Store because there were never any b&w pressings
Why?
>>61208012
>there were never B&W pressings of TMS
Wrong
>>61208029
>RSD exclusive
Whoops, my bad, you're right.
>>61207927
Is that 2 Modi's you've got?
>>61208079
Vali and Modi for my headphones, Mani for my turntable.
>>61208012
>There was never an official release for Ex-Military
Wrong
Just enjoying the cold weather
Recently picked up >
>>61208108
Isn't the Vali a tube amp though?
>>61208196
>
>>61208217
Yes. I found it sounded better with my dt880s than the Magni.
Best setup I can manage right now.
Last month or so of pick ups, really digging Sandy Bull, and End Times is a go to for crying about girls
>>61208364
What's with the TP?
>>61208422
My bathroom is right next door, and doesn't have any room or outlets. It's the same reason my toothbrush charger is right next to my turntable.
Also, here's a photo of my collection if anyone's interested.
>>61208476
Nice, got a ship to shore release (Mother). The guy running that label is cool as hell.
>>61208476
Is that the orange pressing of galactic melt?
Some good thrift store luck lately. Picked up Genesis - Live, Who - Tommy, Greg Allman - The Greg Allman Tour today. Earlier this week I found a shitload of good jazz.
setup is eh
>>61208555
Nope, it's just the regular reissue. Pic related actually came on orange vinyl though.
>>61208653
What Autechre album is that?
>>61206937
Sunday I got a mat for my platter in addition to Psychedelic Furs' heartbreak beat and The Bolshoi's Friends album. Today, a recent pressing of Christian Death's only theater of pain came in the mail.
Surfer Rosa was ~$20
What's Going On $3
There's A Riot Going On $6
Do you guys think vinyl me please is worth it?
>>61209674
It's 23 dollaroos, it will only be worth it if you're really in to the idea of getting something random every month
>>61209843
>2/2
>>61208653
Got an alright collection, at least
>>61208364
Looking good, dude
Posting setup and collection is the next post
Some stuff I've come into recently. I also just got Johnny Cash at San Quentin.
>>61209983
Super jelly of that Midori album.
Where did you find it?
>>61210092
Discogs my man. It's one of only two rare records that I've ever felt like actually shilling out for. (So they're probably also my two favorite physical records that I own)This is the other.
>>61210155
Damn I was hoping you somehow found some magical website that had it for under $100. Impossible I know. Well done man. Take care of it.
Setup is a no name 80's brand turntable, couldn't find anything online about the brand. The guy I bought it from fixes them up and suggested it might have been manufactured by a more well known company and then housed/branded as another. Who knows.
Collection if anyone gives a shit/wants to buy something off me
>http://www.discogs.com/user/Lomath/collection
Giles Corey box is through customs and possibly arriving in time for christmas
My 3x3 from another thread.
>>61210350
btw cannot stress enough how much i need some money so if anyone wants anything i own then pm me on discogs and i'll do you a decent deal and not fuck you on shipping
>>61210927
Took a look but sorry bro nothing sparks my interest.
does anyone have that image that shits on Crosley record players and recommends another one?
>>61209961
Nice b&o turntable. Lets hang out pls
>>61210527
Is it sold out yet?
>>61211814
Do you really need an image to tell you that Crosley is a bad brand?
>>61211922
nah i just forgot the one it recommended, unless you remember
>>61211959
it's probably the u-turn, pro-ject debut carbon, or AT LP120
>>61209674
>>61209716
they offer a $6 option where you don't get the record of the month but you can still use the store.
i have that. i cop exclusive pressings every once in a while (recently got a copy of garden of delete that was limited to 500)
my collection.
>>61211978
Thanks anon
>>61212063
Oh man is that the flaming lips prefuse 73 collab I see
>>61207833
where are you in socal? Amoeba in hollywood is pretty dope.
>>61208384
DIIV makes me wet
>>61212023
So you're paying for the privilege of using a store? That's nice
>>61211910
don't believe so no
>>61212130
it's either the plastic ono band one or the lightning bolt. prefuse 73 is next on the list to cop
>>61209674
I live in Canada and even then the price fucking doubles, I can't imagine what it'd be like for someone overseas. If it was a flat 20 bucks a month I'd be willing to gamble with it but as is it's way too much to be paying for an album I may end up hating.
>>61207833
Amoeba, in Hollywood
>tfw Canadacuck
>tfw exchange rate is hell on earth
>tfw records are 33% more expensive now
>tfw shipping, which was already extremely overpriced is 33% more expensive
>tfw to get an average vinyl shipped to my house it will cost $60 - $80 CAD total
FUCK
>>61209864
How's it sound? Bought a new one a while back, its probably the worst sounding record record I have quality wise.
>>61212321
>tfw Canadacuck
>tfw three record stores literally within a three block radius of my place
>>61208653
Sell me that Admirals Fell Promises pls
>>61208653
Nigga put those records in outer sleeves
do you want premature ring wear or what
>>61212321
>tfw Canadians always putting albums i want up on Discogs
>tfw don't want to pay the 10+ bucks for shipping
also here's a rage story
>buy old world music record; Columbia Two Eye mono from 1959
>no one cares about it even though it's fucking great, see a copy for VG+ for 5 bucks
>cover is VG but say "oh well"
>finally shows up
>album is at best VG
>cover has a complete split seam on the spine
what the fuck man
picked up dropped pianos a few days ago. tim hecker sounds incredible on vinyl btw
Thread inspired me to hit the record store around the corner. Last pic I posted was from last week.
This is what I just picked up just now,
>>61212778
I just want some more goddamn represses of radio amor and haunt me, haunt me again. Also hyped for new album 2016
>>61209961
Vandersteens?
>>61212969
I grabbed Clockwork Orange too recently
good stuff
>>61213010
Very good. Can't really listen to it at the moment though because I tried to clean it with pic related. Did literally nothing and left a residue that clogs up the needle.
Anyone had experience with this?
>>61213204
I've always cleaned with dish soap and distilled water, using a soft sponge. Dry with a microfiber cloth.
I've had to rebuild my stereo and am making progress slowly. Just waiting for my turntable to come in the mail.
>>61212904
Yes, sir
>>61211880
Sure thing, buddy
Bring over some records while you're at it
>>61213358
What turntable did you get?
>>61213449
Technica SL-QD2
>>61213498
Technics **
Sorry autocorrect.
To clarify. I've had the TT for awhile but when I moved out of state i left it behind with family and she is mailing it to me because it's cheaper to get my old TT that I liked back than just buy a new one or spend the time searching the thrift stores for one.
Getting my boards cut and drilled for my threaded rod shelf this weekend
I'll finally be able to save some space and make for better organization
>>61207287
super neat
>>61207924
pretty neat
>>61209978
jelly
>>61212063
super jelly of the stone roses cover album and the top row, those are the only ones I dont have
I've got all of those pictured except for those plus electric wurms and all of the single collab records
>>61213553
If I owned that rickenbauker I doubt I could be jealous of anyone.
>>61213627
Well there's probably more out there like it just gotta find em
A guy I know found a 60's pbass that was painted fluorescent pink at a garage sale this past summer
Why these things happen to bases is beyond me
>>61210184
>>61210155
dudes it's been in print since '08. Don't pay more than 60 for it. EVER.

>>61206937
How is your copy of TMS? Mines cuts off like 30 seconds of Double Helix and Hacker, which is pretty annoying.
>>61215515
Cool setup, how much did you get Laughing Stock for?
>>61215923
my copy of TMS works fine
>>61215934
Not sure what the problem is with mines then. Is yours on the one disk?
>>61215515
>>61215923
Fuck, not laughing stock I got Spirit of Eden, reissue for $30
>tfw significant other is being finicky about moving in with you so you've got your tunes at an apartment you don't really live in yet ;_;
>>61215980

>>61207833
Just go to Amoeba
what's a good TT /mu/? Pro-ject carbon debut?
Picked these up a few weeks ago, haven't had a chance to listen to the pressings though.
Picked these up a few days ago.
>>61215437
no. You have to have it imported from Japan. Shipping is like 16, the record is like 20. It's miles above paying the amount people think it's worth. They also have two of their other albums available too on the site.
>>61206937
DAILY REMINDER PEOPLE WHO THINK VINYLS ARE BETTER KNOW SHIT ABOUT MUSIC
>>61219263
Some records certainly sound better and worse on vinyl/digital, respectively; I enjoy vinyl because I get to browse and occasionally find some sweet picks at my local record stores.
It's also a great way to support the artist and local music scene. I also really enjoy the large covers and lyrics that usually comes along.
>>61219341
Vinyls only sound better if....
A) You enjoy distortion caused by heat, water, wear damage.
B)It's literally a different mix (if so, get a rip of the vinyl and then throw the vinyl into the trash
>>61219263
>>61219448
>STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE
>>61219448
You're right.
I know how much of a faggot I am for saying this, but there's also that certain pleasure of putting the needle down, switching sides of the record etc.
I don't know how to explain it. It's almost fetisch-like in ways. How you spend hundreds of dollars on music you could've just gotten through TPB and yet you feel happy about it.
>>61219530
>How you spend hundreds of dollars on music you could've just gotten through TPB and yet you feel happy about it.
Is not being a thieving degenerate not enough?
>>61219498
"To summarize the science, digital is the superior reproduction format"
https://skeptoid.com/episodes/4303
Taken from a 2004 Journal from the Audio Engineering Society conference in Berlin
>>61219530
Well, as long as you understand that, then by all means waste money on what ever make you happy.
>>61219553
That doesn't necessarily mean it's more pleasurable to listen to
>>61219553
Wow, it's almost like modern technology is better than older technology. Why are you so pissy about what other people spend money on? Please take your autism to >>>/b/
>>61219542
I guess. I've always believed in "free", easy-to-access music (through TPB, Spotify etc.), and then I somehow motivate that by going to shows and picking up the occasional vinyl record to support the artists I really like.
>>61219530
Don't justify it. The difference between a clean and undamaged record vs. its digital equivalent will be inaudible. Format is so low on the playback chain, it really doesn't matter. How the music was mastered and mixed is far more important, followed by your speakers/headphones, room acoustics, amplification, etc.
And many of the best mixes/masters are only on vinyl.
>Just get a rip!
Nah, I'd rather play it on my own system than grab some shitty rip done with an Ion turntable.
>>61215643
Sounds great. As cliche as it may sound, the surface noise fits the mood of the album perfectly.
The Sophie single I have is VYZEE.
>>61212750
>tfw the rest of the world is always putting albums I want up on Discogs
>tfw don't want to pay the 30+ bucks for shipping.
>>61210604
are you latino?
>>61213553
nice setup
