When you have 600 years of using the same scale in western culture and take that culture and shove it down everyone else's ears, then yeah it will get worse and and not better since all notes are already used.
What we haven't heard is the commercialization of Arabic scales in the west, probably since it isn't catered to whites because terrorists and stereotypes. Same goes for asian scales. Then again those worlds have probably exploited all of the riffs for those scales too.
The problem just boils down to the novelty of music wearing off as commercialization pushes it constantly.
