Sonic Youth are a tad overrated though. The quality of their albums fluxuate and so does the extent to which their underground poetry club aesthetic works.
I say that as a man with Sonic Youth in his top 25 bands of all time. It was exactly that fuckaround attitude that lead to a level of experimentation most bands popular in the 80s did not enjoy.
If you can't at least understand why others would like this album, then you should really stop listening to music and learn how to be empathetic.

They're kinda like The Fall or Throbbing Gristle, they have a set bag of tricks that they use ad nauseum.

I thought I was the only one. Everyone here praises this album but whenever I try to listen to it I end up switching it because it just so boring.
I like it but my favourite Sonic Youth album is Washing Machine because it has more variety than both Goo and Daydream Nation.
I'm listening to it right now, and it's not like that at all. I really dig the guitar tone and the drumming.
