I just remembered I have some of those for ukulele, I'll try them.
>>61171470
I have those super thin white dunlop picks, and they do get pretty close when picking deeply, but can't keep up the tone with fast play.
>>61171497
I'll have to get some, looks promising.
My guitar came with 9s for strings. They play perfectly the way the 'tar is setup, but they're a little thin and tinny sounding. Will 10s require me to set up the neck/bridge? Are 10s considered pretty standard, or should I be looking at 11s or higher?
>>61171689
i just finished learning E shape bar chords and playing a whole lot of nothing except for the things i'm practicing and now i'm learning A bar chords. what are some good songs for an early intermediate level guitar player to practice swapping b/t E bars and A bars on?
>>61171412
Check these out. They're Golden Gate Mandolin picks, pretty soft. Generally speaking the thicker and rounder a pick, the softer attack it will have.
Dunlop 204s are nice too.

10s are pretty standard, you will have to set everything up, but it's not something too difficult. You can gradually solve problems as you encounter them. If you like a radius to your strings it's a bit harder. I would recommend you do it, every guitarist should know how to set up their guitar.

Instantly recognizable and people will sing along. 3 chords, mostly E and A. or was it four? well look it up.

This is kind of an RnB blues thing. When I saw this (It's from the documentary "Red, White, and Blues") I was pretty impressed. Very cool performance.

>>61171867
Is that a floating bridge on a flat top guitar?
>>61171851
Thin picks and picks with sharp edges have a harsher attack. With rounded edges the strings sort of glide off the pick making it sound "softer", this depends on the material but all of the warm sounding picks I have are similar in that they're all thick and have have smooth edges.
>>61171901
Nah, it's a bonafide archtop, just with a round hole instead of f holes.
guitar noob here. i just re-stringed this guitar and just now noticed pic related.
will the strings eventually go kablam on me?
>>61171470
I'd get the ferrari of course. Who needs a 20k guitar when you can make music with your right foot?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idjmFZai3oE
Hell, I wouldn't even have a stereo on that.
>>61171929
I think that the ultimate soft attack is thick + flexible. Obviously there is some contradiction there, that's probably what led to the confusion. If a pick is thick and sharp, it'll have a sharper attack than a thin and sharp pick. But most thick picks are less sharp.
>>61171935
Not sure what the problem is, they look kinda crooked but that could just be the camera angle. The saddles being reversed is fine if that's what you're talking about.

drums, man, drums! Not that I don't appreciate them, but the music is pretty different from solo stuff when you have drums.

well, the second one I posted has no drums until minute 12. It's 13 minutes long and Eruption is in the middle.
>>61172383
it depends on the amp, but generally series for 2 speakers, series-parallel for more than two. but it depends on how powerful the amp is, and the speakers' rated wattage and impedance.

The neck is the only nice thing on that guitar
I have this bass that I love and hate at the same time. It looks and feels great and I love it. On the other hand it sounds like ass. Its only got one pickup at the neck and they're notorious for being muddy. First of all, how hard would it be for something with literally no experience with the sort of thing to cut out and route another pickup slot, and to replace the pickups?

Explain? I don't really know much about the world of buying guitars. Which leads to my next question

>>61174868
what kind of music do you play
>>61174992
that's the thing that proves I'm a complete novice: I have no idea how to answer that.
I use an acoustic guitar and I usually look up songs to play be it chords or fingerpicking.

what kind of music do you LISTEN to then?
try taylor guitars

Guitar-wise, Rock and folk.
I am so ashamed and sorry, anon.
I'm looking to drop $80-$120 on a guitar for my dad. He got pretty screwed over by his divorce, and he's headed to Texas. I'd like to get him something so he doesn't drive off a cliff or something stupid along the way. He's left handed and prefers acoustic. What would ya'all recommend? He used to be pretty decent, but that years ago and he hasn't touch a guitar since. A solid beginner tier guitar would work just fine.
>>61175072
for electrics either try a strat or les paul, pretty obvious but theyre the most versatile. an SG could also work
for acoustics avoid martins like a plague they only work for bluegrass. get a taylor.
as for an amp fender make pretty good amps.
>>61174698

>I'm looking to drop $80-$120 on a guitar for my dad

>>61175072
forgot to add. the way you can tell if a guitar is build firmly is actually pretty easy
play an E major chord hardly and if you can feel the chord rumble through the neck into your hand then the odds are is that it is built well
>>61175183
I'm currently considering this Rogue RG-624 http://www.amazon.com/Rogue-RG-624-Left-Handed-Dreadnought-Acoustic/dp/B0018TJFPS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450687778&sr=8-2&keywords=left+handed+guitar I don't suppose anyone knows if they're good or not?
>>61175148
I'm more drawn to acoustics I think which is strange since I usually listen to electric based stuff. The guitar I have now is a Mitchell MD 100S. Any opinion on that?
How do I get knowledge about specific models and shit?
>>61175169
jesus man. That's some pretty big cash. Do they only sell it in japan? I'd consider another color for punk rock but it's a very nice guitar.
>>61175183
So if I can feel the vibration? also Noob question, but do "better" guitars have nicer action? I noticed some barre chord heavy songs make my hands tired after a while on my mitchell. Is it the guitar or do I just suck that bad?
>>61175183
Well, I talked to my sister and she agreed to pitch in. What would be a good guitar for a about $160 to $250?
>>61175289
>do "better" guitars have nicer action?
it matters how bad the action is. if its bowed as fuck i wouldnt buy it but if its just a little high thats just a bad setup and can be easily fixed
also knowledge about specific models isnt all that important. go to your nearest guitar store and play their guitars. buy what feels nice to you
>>61175325
thats certainly a better price range. ibanez and fender make some pretty good low end acoustics. dont get an epiphone though because they break easilly
also pardon my spelling its 4:10 AM and im up shitposting on /gg/ for some reason

>>61173341
That's good for learning for one month.
>>61173777
I've seen people fill in gaps and cracks in wood by making a mix of woodglue and sawdust. If the gouges are deep, you could try that. If not, the paint can fill it no problem.
>>61175380
>>61175380
looks fine to me
>>61175289
I've never heard of Mitchell guitars, so I can't say anything about them. I've only started learning guitar for about 3 months, though.
I think you should go to a guitar store and try out a few guitars to see how different guitars and brands feel and sound. The only guitar I've ever played was a cheap guitar my dad bought in the 90's. The whole thing was setup badly and it had more than double the normal amount of action. After I set it up right, I thought that's what a decent guitar was supposed to feel like, until I went to a Guitar Center and played a few guitars. I fell in love with the Taylors, so I ended up going on Craigslist and buying a 110.
I'm mostly learning folk music right now, and I think Taylors sounds great for it. So I ditto the recommendation of the Anon above you.
You might end up liking some other brands, who knows. Just try a few guitars and see which ones you like.
>>61175390
thanks! I know the technical part isn't quite there yet but the goal is to make my brain put together the two hands and the singing. Its really not that easy.
>>61175620
Definitely not easy. I was surprised with how difficult it was for me to play and sing. I totally under estimated that.
I've been playing for 3 months and I finally sound as decent doing both as I can doing them separately.
>>61175289
Oh I'm not the punk anon. I don't plan to get one in that color yet, but I'll eventually get one, most likely a Fender. The one I'm going to buy in Japan if all goes well is a V or Explorer style guitar, not sure if I'll get one with a Floyd or a TOM yet though. It'll most likely be a TOM due to availability. It will be either white, black or oiled in black, red or blue. I don't discard the possibility of getting a Korina lookalike either, one of the few good looking natural finish guitar types. This is all assuming I get a proper job in January.
>>61172709
Fuck's sake , I thought he unironically wrote that
Thoughts on the Yamaha Revstars?
Is pressing down on the strings supposed to be really hard?
My strings keep buzzing because I don't think I press down on them hard enough and it's frustrating when no chord or note sounds right because of it.
Will this just fix itself once I get calluses on my fingers, or should I try to fix my technique? I don't touch the other strings with my fingers, so it's not that either. The guitar should also be set up properly as far as I know.
Am I just shit?
>>61175992
have you tried pressing more lightly too? You could be pressing too hard, you want to apply enough pressure to get the notes to ring properly but not more.
>>61175992
You need some decent pressure, but you shouldn't be trying to crush the strings.
Try scooting your fingers closer to the frets, and mess around with what part of the fingertip you use.
>>61176008
Pressing more lightly just makes it either buzz or the note fades out instantly.
>>61176066
Placing the fingers closer to the frets helps, but when playing some chords where I'm trying to fit all fingers on the same one automatically puts one or two fingers further back which then amplifies the problem.
>>61176089
Yeah, there will be chords where that happens.
Once you finger gets a tougher, it'll get easier.
>>61176089
Just keep messing around with it until you find what works. It won't take more than two or three weeks before you can play open chords fairly well.
Basically I'm fucking stupid so somebody please explain this to me: is this thing an effects loop? Is it used when your amp doesn't have an effects loop?
Kill urself fag
>>61176127
>>61176158
Cheers. This just came as a surprise since I expected more problems with actually remembering the chords and getting the dexterity to pull them off. Although I'm sure that will come later.

If the guy with the eb-0 is still here, can you see what harmonic the neck pickup is under on the g string for me? I'm gonna need that for a project, and I'm also curious to see how it compares to my long scale eb-3. The easiest way to check the harmonic is to use a slide or a substitute for a slide and a tuner. Mute the string between the neck and the slide. Thanks amigo.

Of course you can learn by yourself. Use justinguitar, he has a great program for beginner and intermediate. And he's not as annoying as the other teachers desu
I'm thinking of buying this, I haven't played guitar in a while - never owned anything electric either.
What should I be looking for?
There also isn't any specific information on this ad, so I've got no idea what to read about.
So I'm considering getting my first bass. I have the opportunity to buy 2 used ones for almost the same price (100 for squier and 120 € for 5 string). Should I get a Squier Affinity P-bass or a Stagg 5-string (probably a BC-300) ?
>>61178867
for just recording you can get something small and quiet that you can push into overdriven tones like a champ or something.
if you plan on gigging with it eventually that's going to change things.

If you can find a champ 25 from the early 90's get that. They shouldn't be more than 250-300 bucks
>>61179074
Do yourself a favor and get an SX ursa new. Best bass for that kind of money. Just make sure and get a full scale model.
Anyone have experience with a jay turser MG? I'm looking for a 24" guitar and don't see much else worth looking at. Apparently the pickups are low output, which is a plus. It's got a really funky bridge which is pretty cool.
How do I find a bass player?
I asked on the local FB musicians page... no dice other than "I can play if you have a rig, sometimes, maybe."
I tried CL, FB... I don't tweet much, is twitter a good resource to find musicians? Where else should I try?
I'm really excited to have a drummer on the same wave length as me (family, job, practice once a week, we aren't 16 year olds so the practices are much more productive in a shorter amount of time).
Finding a singer around here in this "HEAVY METAL/BLACK METAL/SCREAMO" only local scene is going to be hell.

Are you really SGbro? I'm guessing not. But if so, what's the deal with your wife? Why do you put up with that? Why do you let her exert so much control?
Would this be worth it saving up for? I am sick of looking for a good archtop for lefties, all of them are are thousands of dollars.

That is what I'm doing with the drummer. I honestly just want to gig every once and a while and I'd be happy. Training isn't bad, I think the end result will be good.
>>61179617
Not entirely sure but apparently his wife completely runs the show, controls all the money, tells him what he can and can't do. Probably cheats on him hardcore. And all he really ever says is ''yes honey'' because she's totally subverted his masculinity and shits all over him and he just lets her.
I believe he only recently got his internet privileges back.

>No, because despite how she treats me I still love and adore her. I just wish I could help her not be such a dominator. I haven't had sex in 3 months. She flips when census is low and I get to come home because it doesn't have the shift diff pay. Most days I'd rather just be at work and daydream of feeling someone love me again.
But hey haha I got a drummer and just need a bassist and singer and we can start putting some stuff together and maybe gig!

You played one? Did you notice anything specific that was a problem? I'm decent at fixing up guitars so depending on the issues you had it might still be a good purchase for me.
>>61180265
Not the same dude but i bought a JT-50(their SG) and the frets were sharp and the action was high as fuck. Pickups were decent though, all you would need to do really is set it up and maybe swap the pickups if you want a more thorough warm sound
>>61180265
>I'm decent at fixing up guitars so depending on the issues you had it might still be a good purchase for me.
If it's really chinese made, it's probably going to have issues like unseasoned wood, or cheap hardware which in the case of a guitar with a trem, might make the whole thing unplayable unless you get rid of the trem.
Always try before you buy a guitar anyway.
>>61180265
Not that model, but I had one of their LP copies in the past and have played their P-bass copy.
Electronics were always the big issue for me. The LP was made pretty solidly though.
Most reviews of that MG cite it as an upgrade platform. On its own though, it's Chinese garbage.
>>61179853
you're driving yourself to depression, don't feel like you have to 'man up' but ask yourself: 'am I a good person?' 'Do I deserve good things?' 'Are my needs being met? 'Do I deserve sex?' 'Do I deserve autonomy?'. If you care about your wife enough then you need to talk her about it, I'm sure she still cares about you, she probably has her own issues that you can't talk about because of the emotional distance. It won't be easy, and the solution might end up being a break up but you deserve to live happy, you're young, you have a fantastic job and you clearly consider yourself attractive; you've also shown your capacity to care about others deeply as you love your kid and despite your megrims with her, you do completely selfless things in her favour. Come on dude
>>61180294
Cool, I can deal with that. About the frets, were any coming up? Was the neck thick enough and was the bridge in the right place? I guess a lot of this you wouldn't remember but thanks for the info so far. Luckily it's an unbound neck so fixing the frets is a lot easier.
>>61180312

How do I make my Boss ODB-3 sound at least somewhat decent.
The best way I can describe my problem is lots of buzzing and humming and a sub par distortion.
Is there a way I can make it sound decent or am I stuck with a shitty pedal?

Imo the shorter sustain is super useful for effects. It's a good idea as long as it's a full hollow body or maybe a resonator. Probably okay to cheap out if its for shoegaze. On the other hand it's not a trebly tone in general, so you wouldn't want it to be your only guitar for shoegaze.
>>61180521

Full depth archtops feedback too much for shoegaze. A thin guitar like a casino is fine though, it'll still feedback but it's a lot more controllable.
>>61181865
Just put a noise gate in front and learn to mute your strings.

>>61181889
>>61181906
It's not really an issue when recording, I'm talking more in loud live situations. Noise gates could work but I find that they kill dynamics, there's really no advantage to using an Archtop if you're just going to bury it under a ton of fuzz and reverb imo.
A semi-hollow will get you that same controllable feedback without the need for a noise gate or anything else.
>>61181682
It's really hard to say, in general they will have worse frets. It pains me to say, stay away from older models. Same with hadean, there's some growing pains. Don't buy unless you're in the U.S. and can return the guitar if need be.
Want to go get one for no other reason than watching satchel play on youtube
>>61181865
getting a semihollow would defeat the point, unless it's a matter of style.
Is the Ibanez Artcore AS53 any good? Is there a better alternative for the price?
>>61182017
Casinos are fully hollow but the thin body keeps them from having ridiculous out of control feedback.
Semi-hollows will still feedback more than a solid-body would, but it's nothing that can't be controlled. A thinline hollowbody is definitely the way to go if you want even more feedback.

What would be the most cost effective pedalboard for about 4-6 pedals?
Fender Japan VS Fender Mexico VS Fender America
what do you say?
Fender mexico is obviously worst, but between the other two, its really inbetween imo
aside from that, I have a Fender JPN 62 telecaster, but I still can't figure out the wiring, since I can't read the moon in the manuals.
Is it safe to assume that the first two positions are the neck, and the third is the bridge? I can't figure the difference between the first two though.
>>61182330
Answered my own question. Cool video too.
https://youtu.be/YYJIXdlOg-o
>>61182576
What? If it's a 3 position it's neck, both, bridge. Is this your first guitar? No offense intended. You can tap on the pickups to see which ones are on.
i want to get a new guitar... but what do i even look for? i don't get whats the guitar, whats the amp, i have a horrible ear for sound specificity.
whats the word? just buy a stratocaster?

>>61182576
Murrica fuck yeah > Japan = Mexico
Japan quality depends on the year.
>>61182626
Thats not necessarily the case.
From what little I could make out of the manual, the other non reissue models had that configuration.
I've read that many models from late 50s to early 60s had neck with cap, neck, bridge. That's what its been sounding like to me, but I couldn't figure it out and I'm lacking an amp atm so I can't do the tap test.
Still, if that's the case, what exactly does "neck with capacitor" mean?
>>61182654
A guitar is a big purchase. There are way more questions for you to consider before you ask "whats the word?"
What's your style of music?
What looks best to you?
What feels best to you?
Go try everything you can in store and then do your research.
>>61182773

i literally like... its really embarrassing. ive had bands, me and my friend just started a band and practice and stuff, and he understands that i'm retarded, but i'm so dumb when it comes to equipment and theory and pretty much everything.
only thing i can do is play guitar okay (and a little piano) and read music a bit. but all the other stuff i have no idea.
>>61180622

>>61182845
Then, I would say, avoid buying a new electric and amp for now, get an acoustic if you don't already have one, and practice daily for a few years.
You sound lazy and uninspired. What I find when people like you skip to buying fancy new equipment, is that you end up getting obsessed with the tech, so much so that you have 0 understanding of the basics and you end up with a disgusting sound.
Just my two cents.
I've got a Traynor YCS 50 and I threw a Line 6 dl4 in the loop, but when i turn up the send and return controls so i can hear the pedal I get an almost boost like effect. It beings my clean tone into almost overdrive territory, anyone have any idea why?

Could be that neck bypasses the tone knob completely, neck with cap does not. Some people add the option to bypass the tone, cuz even full open you lose a bit of treble.
>>61183376
look up Dave's world of fun stuff's setup videos. You don't need feeler gauges to get the general idea. make sure you listen for buzz with headphones, most basses will have a small amount of buzz on attack that's acceptable if it doesn't come through the amp. Hard to describe.
>>61183376
You need a slightly concave neck and after that you just get the action as low as you can without fretbuzz. As soon as you encounter fretbuzz when playing normally you turn it a bitch higher. Alternatively you can choose strings that need more tension or buy a longer scale bass next time, more tension in the strings means you can have a lower action, generally.

Question, I tried out a bunch of basses recently, what's the big deal with Fender exactly? I know basses and guitars might be completely different, but comparing a fender American deluxe or american standard to an Ibanez SR premium or a Sandberg, the Fender felt clunky, heavy, didn't look or feel like anything special and the ergonomics were terrible. What exactly justifies the 1800$ pricetag on those things?

I don't mean to say sg shouldn't stand up to his wife, only that it's really hard for someone who hasn't been through something similar to understand. I just think people here need to be a little more careful with their judgements, if not their advice. People here are making it sound like it's all sg's fault. Clearly, he needs to do something, but it's his wife who is creating the problem in the first place. I know people love to be victims these days to avoid taking responsibility, but the truth is he's a victim who needs to take responsibility regardless. They were all set up equally bad, but I'm talking about the general ergonomics like the body shape and how the thing is balanced.
>>61184080
Ibanez basses, especially SR, are a completely different beast. I get that, completely different design and whatnot. But some Sandberg basses literally look the same as a Fender, have the same general body shape yet are WAY better balanced and are not as "boxy" as a Fender. They have angled cuts so your arm doesn't grind against the edge of the body all the time, simple things like that.
>>61184402

this is what a cognitive psychological zealot looks like
>>61184555
You really think they wanna help?
And the fuck this has to do with guitars?
Come the fuck on, you guys are all fag enabling this bitch.
>>61184555
My bad, I shouldn't called him a cuck. He's on the way to cuckoldry though. He thinks he satisfies her by letting her take control of everything, and it's probably making her miserable by doing that.
>>61184598
I don't think his wife is necessarily a psycho cunt, perhaps she just needs her man to be a "macho man" to function properly.
>>61184625
Yeah true, what's your set up?
Fuck this cuck shit, post a riff or some random noodling :^)
Next time that fag posts I'll report his ass, he derails these threads to oblivion by posting the same stale shit.
ok let's make it the last one. SGBro, you need to speak to your friends, speak to a therapist and consider a marriage counsellor. Godspeed, its not easy.
>>61184589
It ultimately came down to an SR prestige VS a Sandberg classic special for me. Both were fantastic and sounded gorgeous, but the Sandberg actually has a beefier preamp, normal string spacing (5 string) and gives you more choices in terms of customisability. Also, it's made in Germany, supporting a local business is always nice.
>>61184625
>And the fuck this has to do with guitars?
we're talking about a guy whose handle has "SG" in it, we're talking about women, who many times have motivated guys to pick up guitars, and many of them love guitarists as you can see looking at the typical band with groupies. The guitar shape is based on the shape of a woman. Also if we can get him over being a pussy maybe some day he'll become a cool guitarist to look up to.
>>61184686
>marriage counsellor
ugh, worst advice ever. The parents of a friend of mine starting going to one, who was also my friend's psychologist. She ended up fucking his dad and they divorced.
>>61184756
nice anecdote, glad we're gonna stretch this one out
Well, if we can't stop the shitposting, maybe I can at least make it more guitar oriented.
>>61184650
At this moment, just a cheap tenson acoustic I got from my brother.
I have a bunch of other stuff but I put them away. For 3 years I have been doing nothing but playing powerd chords and pentatonics sloppily with all the gains. I'm going to learn how to play the basic chords fluently before I touch any of my electrics again.
>>61184724
>The guitar shape is based on the shape of a woman
I doubt that
>>61184854
What does that sound like?
>>61184863
>i'm going to learn
That's cool that you're taking it more seriously
>>61184868
Shit.
>>61184854
ergonomics and versatility bad
there, I summed up all the shitposting about the 10 string.
>>61184868
I've only heard the bottom string, but it sounded terrible.
>>61184854
>the height of faggotry
>not shitposting
>>61184886
>>61184904
what a weird thing to buy.
>>61184863
>I doubt that
It's been like that for centuries, m8
>In 1626, Luis de Briceňo published his Método mui facilíssimo para aprender a taňer la Guitarra a lo espaňol in Paris. In his Introduction, he mentions for the first time that the guitar “is like a woman in shape and in temperament: one must play her well to be successful”.

Djentfags seem to like those meme instruments. They also seem to think they help them impress people and play better. Just like shoefags with their pedals.
>>61184956
I don't play the bottom string all that much. I'm afraid it'll blow my amp.
>>61184884
I just got tired of doing the same thing.
Figured maybe actually learning some chords would get me motivated to actually learn and practice stuff and not just fuck around.
>>61185062
You rang?
>>61185103
>all those pedals
>to play bass
meme
>>61185031
>based on
>is like a woman
Yeah, obviously the shape resembles a women but I doubt it's actually based on it.
>>61185133
That's not a bass cab.
>>61171689
What do you guys think of Seagull guitars? I just bought a really nice acoustic electric s6 cutaway for 400. My uncle has been giving me shit ever since. He's never heard of the brand and thinks it's some first act tier instrument. Says he wouldn't pay more than 60 for it. Said I should've bought a Martin, Taylor.
>>61185103
Is that a piggyback
>>61185136
why not make it like a balalaika then
>>61185144
Fair enough. Doesn't help that Hartke has become a bass company though. And I was surprised to learn that 2 of my favorite bassists use them and are featured in their page: Billy Sheehan and David Ellefson
>>61172210
>>61172684
I charge 50USD for fabricating a new bone nut. If the original was plastic or micarta you'll get much better sound from open strings. Don't let anyone put some shitty precut nut on your guitfiddle.
>>61185175
Use that brain thingy of yours and you might figure it out
>>61179853
Jesus Christ man, get your shit together. Not for you, for your beloved wife.
>>61185170
It is, but I'm not using the head it's intended for. I'm running a Marshall MA100H into it.
>>61185278
>implying they aren't god tier for playing in classical position
dude, it's like a flying v sacred ancient relic
>>61185308
I saw one of those in a shop for 150, is it worth it? Have you played it with it's original head?
>>61185240
>2015
>there are still guitars and basses that don't come with a 0th fret
Seriously, just why? That way you don't have to give a shit about your open strings because they'll sound the same as any fretted note you play.
>>61185160
your uncle is a brand bunny. Martin people like this would think a martin with a relabeled headstock sounds like shit.
>>61185408
I'd say it is. I've never cared enough to hunt down the original head though.
>>61183376
>>61183730
tighten the rod into slight backbow and raise the brigde a little higher than normal. tune to pitch. sight neck. release rod until neck is dead straight at pitch. lower bridge/saddles.
protip: there's a reason people get paid to do this
>>61183736
NO.
>>61185422
Honestly I would love to see more zero frets. But I play a lot of slide so I'd only be willing to do it on my bass and 12 string. Otherwise you have to have the highest action ever.
>>61185422
>Seriously, just why? That way you don't have to give a shit about your open strings because they'll sound the same as any fretted note you play.
you answered yourself
what some people consider undesirable, is considered awesome by other people. Some people like the open string sound.
>>61185517
>NO.
So every instruction manual ever is wrong? Very slight concave neck is the absolute standard for every fretted guitar, completely straight for fretless.
>>61185422
Hm? You want me to put a zero fret on your guitar? No problem. Some people would rather have a bone nut.
>>61185511
Cool thanks man. Been looking for a smaller stack
>>61185626
or a TusQ, or a Floyd Rose locking nut, or a shitty but cool looking Schaller nut
So guys, to find all the triads in a major scale, do I just keep jumping one note three times? Like in C Major C D E F G A B C
I'd get C E G to get C Major, do I get D Minor then by taking D F A ? Does this work for all chords?
Also does it work on minor scales?
new thread
>>61185699
>>61185672
I'm not sure it works that way. You have 3 semitones from C to E, and 2 from D to F. It's easier if you look at the fretboard since there are no note names there.
>>61185626
A 0th fret makes the whole discussion irrelevant because it does exactly that and you can use whatever nut you want.
>>61185594
Fair enough, but it's infuriating when people talk about worse sound because if X nut vs Y nut when you could just take it out of the equation entirely.
>>61185541
I get a nice and low action on my Sandberg, the 0th fret doesn't really impact that from what I can tell.
>>61181840
people rec them but I hated mine desu
hagstroms are chill and epiphone's can be good if they're korean.
>>61182385
rondo pedal case for sure. great value. i've beat the shit out of mine.
>>61185625
Why do you think I have something against zero frets?
>>61185625
Pretty much. You can combat buzz in the middle of the neck by putting a little relief into the neck. You'll get more buzz in the higher registers and the action will never be as low as a guitar with a straight neck.
>>61185722
>and you can use whatever nut you want
what for? it negates the effect of the nut. There's a reason 2015 gibsons got so much backslash
>>61185672
yeah that's exactly how it works, that many notes up WITHIN the scale (cmaj in your example), but not in the entire western mode
>>61173448
The minor pentatonic scale is used in jazz as well.
>>61179853
mate, if you want your wife to love you again you need to be a hero. Not memeing here, I'm not saying "kill yourself". Make her proud of you. She may not be Marie Cachet, but she's still a woman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDqQCjkuxuo
>>61186342
...obviously. but they don't ONLY use the minor pentatonic
>>61186368
Haha, a video of Varg! Well there you go, SGbro, all you need to do to win your wife's heart is murder somebody, and then when you get out of prison, spend the rest of your life spreading nazi shit wherever you go.
>>61186787
>implying Varg isn't living the dream
He seems happier than SGbro tbqhwy
>>61186787
>implying hitler did anything wrong
>>61186872
He does, I'll concede that much.
>>61186787
