So I just listened to this for the first time and I'm finally really fucking interested in Swans.

Tried a couple times to get into them but it never really worked out. Not that I didn't like it, but I never really cared too much to ever delve back into it. But ever since listening to this, it's all I can think about. Where do I go from here?

Sup OP, try 'Soundtracks for the Blind' because that's a similar era to this, if you like that try 'The Seer' and 'To be kind', if your looking for something more with the post punk sound try 'White light from the mouth of infinity' and if your enjoying the gritty no wave sound try 'Cop' or 'Filth' hope this helps

Body To Body, Job To Job isn't on this chart for some reason, but definitely check that out too. It's a rawer and grittier sounding version of Cop. Either way, have fun

If you need downloads for their weirder stuff, PM me on Soundcloud... I tried posting a link but I keep getting a message that says "our system thinks this is spam"
>>
>>61156255
Holy shit, appreciate the chart for sure, I'll definitely be going on an adventure for the next few days.

I'll start out with Soundtracks, usually with those charts I like to start jumping around eventually but I see a lot about The Seer and To Be Kind so I'll probably just hit those after anyway. Appreciate all the input, really needed some new music so this is awesome.
>>
I'd say Soundtracks for the Blind and The Great Annihilator. Nothing's better than Swans Are Dead though.
>>
Love of Life is their best album. Listen to it you plebs
>>
>>61156279
Soundtracks is my favourite album ever (for now at least!), it's definitely a beast of an album, if you loved Swans Are Dead, I'm sure you'll love that too

...and I just tried posting the URL to this site I found that has literally any Swans release you could think of with space bars in between but the spam filter still picked it up as spam, idk why, it's bugging me. You got a Skype or something? I wanna give this to ya
>>
>>61156328
love of life is an inferior white light

>>61156335
I mean I have a kik but that's it, everything else is a little too personal. I had a skype at one point but I'm kinda limited with my technology at the moment.

Gonna try again...

fuuuuuuuuuuck
I love you
>>
>>61156381
This is awesome, but if you guys enjoy the albums I personally recommend you buy them from the Young God Records store in CD/Vinyl, every member of Swans is broke as fuck and they just barely manage to scrape together enough funds to make their next album each time.

I'm not one of those obnoxious anti-piracy people, it's just that Swans as a band deserves more commercial attention than it gets.
>>
>>61156499
Oh don't worry, I buy whatever new releases of theirs they have. I've also been trying my best to find original issues of everything, but they're all so hard to come by.
>>
>>61156499
Oh yeah, absolutely. Especially with groups like this, I'm a strong advocate for supporting the artist as much as possible.

how the fuck did you find this?
>>
>>61156499
I already own three of their records and will definitely buy the next one. Very quality packages, a lot of material for my buck (the DVD versions of memedog and memebaby albums are worth the little extra money). I hope they reissue SFTB so I can give them more money.
>>
>>61156571
2016's gonna mark the 20th anniversary of SFTB, hopefully it gets a vinyl reissue for record store day or something. I know I'm buying it, I just hope the track order isn't screwy like The Seer

How many records do you think it'll even have? That's alot of music to fit onto vinyl
>>
>>61156600
No idea mate, I collect CDs. When I saw The Seer in vinyl record shop and looked at the tracklisting it ended any doubts I previously had about whether I made the correct choice. Gira prefers CD too btw.

Also I doubt the reissue will happen before 2017. I think 2016 is going to be quite busy for them.

The current reissue series is nice, still waiting on some basic reissues like SFTB and Swans Are Dead, but hopefully those'll be out soon. Honestly a huge 8(+) LP Vinyl boxset would be hilarious, mostly because it's actually planned.

>>61156542
It's in the archive too (through Mega):

>>61156571
Yep, also waiting on for a reissue of SFTB to go with my unsigned digipak copy.
>>
>>61156654
I prefer CDs as well, but it's my favourite album. I'm gonna try owning as many versions of it as I can
>>
>>61156668
dude no that vk link has rare albums and bootleg shit on it too
>>
If you're into long, intense music (and what are considered Swans objectively best albums) go for Soundtracks followed by The Seer followed by To Be Kind. IMO They're all pretty much equal but Soundtracks has a certain darker intensity than the other two.

>Soundtracks for the Blind

Just listen to this for the first time and it's extremely hard to get into.
This shouldn't be mucore
>>
>>61157405
/mu/core doesnt mean good acessible music
it just means good music (or should mean at least)
also SFTB isnt that difficult to get into anyway... if OP likes Swans are Dead he has to dig this
>>
>>61157405
it's like plgging a headphone jack into a log of kaka

Are you that kaka obsessed Anon from years ago?

Does anyone recommend a specific live album to try?

hahahaha, yeah.that was me. i even posted song lyrics about farting kaka in a vocaroo thread and 2 anons sang it.

>>
>>61157405
i recommended it to OP because its very similar to Swans Are Dead, and there's loads of unaccessible /mu/core
>>
>>61156185
listen to soundtracks for the blind and the great annihilator
>>
>>61157550
maybe it's more about venturing outside your comfort zone out of curiosity and new experiences, to learn something new about the world. not so much about wanting to belong..
>>
The Final Sacrifice on Soundtracks for the Blind is way better than the Swans are Dead version.

Every time I listen to it I get chills. It's the best Swans song of all time IMO

Fun fact: White Disc is a 1995 show, ala. early, in-progress versions of SFTB songs.
