Mercury was pretty damn incredible. But for that same reason I can't love him as much as I'd like. His singing is too perfect, too clean, his tone is too unwavering. Which is admirable, but doesn't leave space for the little slips and wavers that make greatness in my eyes.

No, no. I do believe in striving for polish and cleanness and overall pushing yourself to your limits. As close as you can get. But Mercury was quite literally perfect. And that's kind of boring to me. Knock it down a notch or two and that's the sweet spot for me.
