A couple of years ago there was a pretty helpful atmosphere going on, like /prod/ and soundcloud threads mixed into one. I remember being blown away after getting tons of feedback and like 100 listens after posting my first track here. Now its just a list of largely ignored links. Obviously its a give and take thing, but this place is so cynical that I have started to become awkward about giving and receiving feedback, feeling like everyone expects something in return or feel forced into posting hasty useless comments on my tracks

Fair enough, it's not for everyone's taste. The type of music I strive to make is probably more accurately described as minimalistic ambient. Music that acts as a surrounding, which isn't meant to go anywhere drastically different, but instead drifts off into it's own ambiance. It's best experienced passively with a focus on becoming fully immersed in the soundscapes.

your mixes do not offer a lot of room to breath, its a little claustrophobic. work on your atmosphere but dont drown everything in reverb. your mixes are a little mid/bass heavy, some more high range will open your mix giving it a little more height.

thanks I use the 909 and 808 mostly in my tracks recorded onto tape and then into wav for a certain sound. and i use a tb-3 in some tracks too. i am a hardware kind of guy but still arrange it in renoise, just a hybrid. my goal is to have 100% hardware but i still need more gear
