On the RnB side, you should check out some PBRnB artists from the last 4 or 5 years. Miguel, Frank Ocean, How to Dress Well, and The Weeknd are all good. From there you can get more electronic-based with folks like JMSN, James Blake, and (more recently) Clarence Clarity, or you can go more traditional 90's RnB with D'angelo's first two albums, R Kelly, Whitney Houston, and groups like Boyz II Men and Brownstone.
Old school soul/RnB like Marvin Gaye, Martha and the Vandellas, and Michael Jackson is cool too.
