No. As long as the person understands what they contributed to music and pop culture and the direct/indirect impact of their influence then it's fine for them to not also like the music. The opinion only becomes meme tier when it fails to respect the facts.

Basically, they're a really good band who's biggest strength was their ability to try new things and maintain quality over a pretty incredibly breadth of material, while pioneering a new paradigm of music due to emerging technology that hadn't been fully explored yet. I do think there are bands that are as good, but they didn't have the benefit of coming out when recording technology completely changed the medium of music.
