>no way you fucks can top Hospice
no way you're over 19. That album is some of the most cringeworthy muh feels shit out there. Even >>61101997 is so much better.
Giles Corey
>>61102091
I'm not OP but I really liked it because it was relatable to me at the time.

WHEN I WAS EIGHT OR NINE I TOOK
>>61102276
This hit me in the feels pretty hard but not for the same reasons it did for most.
My personal go to. Dunno how it gets so lost in the shuffle when Koz's best albums get discussed
>>61101949
lmao
pic related though

I TOOK A TRIP
>>61102356
>God do you look evil in the dark
Crywank - Tomorrow is nearly yesterday and everyday is stupid.
Daughter - Smother
Angel Olsen - Burn Your Fire For No Witness
Pity Sex - Feast of Love
I like Sufjan Stevens, but some people don't.
Duster - Stratosphere
Empire! Empire!
Ovlov - AM
>>61102428
>I like Sufjan Stevens, but some people don't
what artist is that by?
>>61102244
I always found The White Birch far more bleak and depressing. It's like Frigid Stars is mostly about various relationships and things going bad, while most of The White Birch sounds like is from a perspective of somebody who is just tired of living and wants to die.
>>61102441
The Cdapideos
>>61102428
Giles Corey - Giles Corey works very well too.
I showered and put on clean socks like a couple of hours ago but my feet already smells like shit again

This. The white birch is literally crippling depression: the album
This one is devastating
>>61102548
same with my dick desu what do
>>61102396
its moments like that that I had in mind when I posted it, and that weird voiced refrain towards the end of Evil, incredible
>>61101949
Memes aside, Pink Floyd's The Wall hits me right in the feels. The movie is also breddy gud.
>>61102428
crywank is so whiney and tasteless and annoying.
>>61102441
Sufjan stevens is the artist. Carrie and lowell is one of his feeliest albums.
>>61102950
probably this
He has left us alone... by A Silver Mt. Zion
>>61101949
yeah, I can top Hospice easily
xashur - nocturnal poisoning
leviathan - a silhouette in splinters
krieg - transient
keaton henson - dear
neutral milk hotel - itaots
suicide forest - through the cemetary
>>61103818
>itaots
I can't trust your post now
>>61103705
There's something amazingly sad about this album and I don't know what it is. It sounds so small and lonely in its hopelessness.
>>61103818
Depressive BM is cheesy as fuck
>>61103889
not memeing. it seems that 80-90% find it relaxing, and it makes the rest feel suicidal. to each their own.
>>61103905
dsbm that uses a lot of clean guitar and shit vocals, specifically
>silencer - death, pierce me
are garbage, but the noisey, nihilistic ends of the genre are crammed with brilliant stuff
hold yer feels kiddo

>>61104091
Didn't even like this record. Now We Are All Sons of Bitches is amazing, though.
>>61104170
Good taste anon
>>61104191
fair enough. you check out any Crywank? you might like his (their technically i suppose) later stuff if you're more fond of We Are All Sons of Bitches
>>61101949
How about you post albums where the vocalist doesn't literally cry down the microphone with funeral music in the background?
Flood, Down Colorful Hill, Agaetis Byrjun, Spiderland.
>>61104228
Oh yeah, I'd known about Crywank long before Patron Saint of Bridge Burners actually. Good stuff.
>>61102428
i dont think stratosphere is sad, more like filled with wonder and a little nostalgia
>>61104296
yeah i'm keen for them to get some cash together for an international tour.
also, not as sad as crywank/patron saint but i feel like you might dig this

>>61104546
Alice in chains has been getting a lot of love recently. I've always liked them growing up and always saw them as an underrated band. You really get that given up on life feeling when listening to that album.
>>61102107
This is good dude thanks
>>61103889
Have you even payed attention to the album? I wouldn't call it one of the saddest of all time but it's certainly not upbeat. Just because something has major melodies and is the butt of a lot of jokes that doesn't mean it can't have fairly sad subject matter.
Placebo's Battle For The Sun is another good example of this. Almost every track is really upbeat pop telling the tale of a love triangle that takes some dark turns, leads into a crime drama and ends up with everyone either dead or in prison wishing they were dead. I think it's a shame that albums like these are often left out of these discussions just because they have bright singles, grimdark ambient isn't the only way to tell a depressing story.

OH UNCLE JOE
Most unlikely pitchfork 10 right here. One of the darkest and bleakest albums out there, also one of the best
>>61101949
the new white birch album is pretty motherfuckin goddamn sad
>>61105056
its about an abusive relationship you dumb fuck
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hospice_(The_Antlers_album)
>>61107542
"Hospice tells the story of a relationship between a hospice worker and a female patient suffering from terminal bone cancer."
>dumb fuck
>>61107770
Silberman has described it as the story of an emotionally abusive relationship. Literally read one more sentence.
>>61107814
Yeah, it's both. That's why saying "it's about an abusive relationship" is an argument against someone else saying "it's about a hospice worker fucking their patient," both of those things are true. That's why you're a dumb fuck, for some reason you thought one of them cancelled out the other.
>>61104074
maybe, but i would say this is more depressing than sad. More brutally cynical than your basic sad songs
Curtains by John Frusc
Also the will to death is pretty feely
>>61102276
This tqbh. I didn't even particularly like the album but I have to admit it hits you dead center in the feels.
this is by far the most bleakest depressing album i ever heard. Its jandek, so you probably know what your getting into tho.
>>61102091
how is it cringe worthy. I think OP's retarded for listing one of the most common and well known muh feels albums and being like "NO WAY YOU CAN TOP THIS ONE" as if nobody knew about it.
but i also think you are just spouting buzzwords like cringe.
>No Giles Corey
>>61108034
no because this isnt tumblr, anon
>>61108066
giles corey isn't tumblr at all you mong.
Hangman Blues sounds like death.

>Every terrible thing is a relief....Months on end, Buried in grief
>>61108298
but he said 'saddest', not 'worst'
>>61102160
Fuck anon, I've never seen ANY mention of Antony on /mu/. My fucking nigga.
Here's my submission.
>>61104400
>>61108564
Woops already submitted. My bad
>>61108418
I don't know what album is sadder, this or the promise
Tonite and Today and Dr.Troll show that its an album full of longing for happiness and acceptance that Jamie will never achieve but isn't necessarily sad, even the more intense songs aren't sad but more like sudden intensity of fear (I Broke Up, Suha)
A Promise is more about devastation in whole like with Apistat Commander, Sad-Redux, and Brooklyn Dodgers about being denied and/or a break up of a relationship .
>>61102160
Antony could sing about eating cereal and it would sound like she is in crippling depression while trying to sound optimistic
>>61108656
Great album.
>>61108624
>she
I'm not going to talk shit. I'm just surprised that someone on 4chan would be this nice!
>>61108656
>>61108688
Everytime someone posts this someone else always has to jump in and add how great they think it is.
That would annoy me if I didn't also fucking love this album.

>WHEN YOU'RE OFF AND I'M ALONE
>ALONE
>alone
>REEEEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>61109431
What genre is that, anon?
>>61109851
2010s emo pop I guess
>>61109834
first time i heard that it blew my mind
i never imagined kozelek could do that
>>61107923
I haven't heard that one but he definitely has some extremely bleak moments in his music
>let's see if that soul you got
>wants to be with mine
>and all those over little differences just don't matter
>trading little bits of green paper for SOMETHING TO DO
>I'm alone
>grown
>the pain of not being interested in the plate they passed to you
Honestly, Worthless Recluse probably is the most succinct statement of 21st century pain and suffering. It's what I'd safely call "depressed". Most of the stuff in here is just bad day kind of stuff
>>61108156
His voice probably turns a lot of people off
I hate to say this but his music had a "quirky" atmosphere that probably turns off a lot of the death faced indie kids here
>>61104972
this
>>61110049
white box requiem. Just search for it and youll find a download link quickly
Any mountain goats record desu familia
>>61110076
If there was any word to describe Bill Callahan, I would think it'd be anything but "quirky".
>>61103589
I agree, but when you're an angsty depressed 15-year-old on /mu/ who wants sad music, it's pretty appealing.
>>61106691
lol
don, aman's lyrics hit me in the feels like no other song ice heard before
i only found hospice to be sad because i could relate to it because of an abusive relationship i had on early in my life that stayed with me. if that hadn't happened i'd pass it off as an average piece of work. but it didnt and i dont.
>>61108857
thanks mate
