It's really difficult to have a carreer in music in a third-world country like Mexico. There are few places with good gigs, and people don't buy records anymore, so most of the bands or projects last for a few years because they cannot support themselves (unless they are rich, but either way your family and friends will start thinking that you are "making yourself pendejo" and don't want to get a real job).
It's really hard being an artist in Mexico, or any other poor country, because you need time to get good, and you only have time when you have money or are young. Otherwise to succeed you need to play shitty mainstream music, like what's been on the radio THAT SOUNDS THE SAME SINCE 10 YEARS AGO! It's just really lazy music, and I can't stand to listen to the radio for more than ten minutes.
I am from Sinaloa, and in here we have an assload of Norteño or Banda bands, because there is a market for that; people, regular people like to listen to that and they pay for that kind of music, and this bands evolve, altough most of them play the same shit, you have "movements" inside this kind of music like Movimiento Alterado (songs that glorify and are particularly detailed about a Narco's lifestyle), Duranguense (a ¿danceable? kind of Norteño) or Tribal (this really... weird thing...).
tl:dr, we don't have money, we don't have time to get good.
