never said either were bad. just that name dropping arguably the biggest and most entry level post-punks acts of all time doesn't exactly shore up your patrician (patritian?) bonafides

>People think popular music is patrician
Thats not how it works
I gladly tell people I prefer classical over other genres. People always say "you should check out X band, or Y band" and I say "I dont really like bands" And they give me a weird look as if this cannot be true.
But it is. I love art music, from renaissance vocal music through the common practice period through to modern art music and serialism/spectralism/complexity.
Does this make me patrician? only when combined with my appreciation for the music of all genres, as a true patrician can see the worth of any genre, from traditional music to the production of a radiohead album. i would never listen to popular music, but I can appreciate the appeal.

For instance, yesterday I played cross paths by the motifs, this heat self titled, Africa brass by Coltrane, Hejira by Joni Mitchell, tink of se by unrest, heat wave by univers zero, you are my ever loving/celestial power by Henry flynt and the Eleanor hovda collection
While everyone else there likes the xx, silver sun pickups, tame impala, 1975
They all think I have interesting taste tho

Literally the Whole Foods crowd lmao
Im a girl and I don't like those bands

They think you're a pretentious faggot you mean.
I love this heat but forcing normies to listen to it is probably the most retarded thing I've ever heard.
>>61044804
Yea it's unfortunate that they all "listen to music seriously," and their taste are "obscure" kind of crowd. What do u listen to senpai. Add me on last fm or somethin
>>61044769
this is bait, it has to be.
also 95% op's pic is a tranny.
>>61044845
Lol I don't force anyone to listen to anything. It's not loud or anything you can clearly hear it tho. I get there early enough and they all play their music so I don't see the issue. I'm sure some might think it's weird but I've been working there for over a year and I most of these ppl r my friends enough so se go out for drinks from time-to-time
>>61044704
>stored and distributed in non written form
written music is limiting and dated, do you think something like autechre could be written?
>>61044888
Why would it be bait? That's the music I like and play at work. There's not that many ppl that early anyways like maybe 10 by 5 am, 5 more by 6 and maybe 20 by 7 I normally turn my stuff off when the store opens at 8. I get there at 3
>>61044947
They must be rivited when tescard comes on. You should play them some riyoji ikeda next.

>>61045059
I have not listened to that artist yet but I've seen that name mentioned thanks for reminding me. I may get a few weird looks and "what's that sound?" but most ppl that early are tired and have to hussle to get the store ready for opening and plus again it's not too loud.
>>61045164
I'm 22. I do what I want.
>>61044769
We do a similar thing in my work.
I only play songs that last over 10 minutes though. Ash Ra Tempel, Tony Conrad, E2 E4, sister ray, Belair. I just cant bring myself to listen to their pleb sub 10 minute music.
I mean can you believe they listen to whole albums where no track is over 10 minutes long? It's unthinkable.
