Prefer the original slightly more than Future, but they're both excellent soundtracks. Hideki Naganuma in general is one of the greatest VGM composers out there, shame he's not doing much nowadays apart from interacting with fans on Twitter (and doing sound design on the Yakuza series, I think?).

Pathologic mixes a distinctively Eastern European cabaret sound with a (also distinctively Eastern European, though less so) dark ambient sound. Fits the game nicely. It's also barely playable, but there's a remake coming out by the end of 2016. I'm hyped.

Madness Returns is great as well. I was initially disappointed that Chris Vrenna didn't make a return to do the whole game since I'm a fan of his music, but the guy who took over really exceeded my expectation. I really love the soundscape stuff.

X had more interesting versions of character themes than XX, IMO. XX sounded more real, but felt like they tried to make them all be 3 minutes, removing some good bits out of songs.
And Xrd's music is still decent IMO. I kinda like that they did new themes, rather than rehashing the same ones again.

Its soundtrack is a perfect blend of Jazz and Techno, evoking a sense of upward movement and urban life. Every track, from the Dave Brubeck-inspired "Central Park Sunday" to the triumphant "Magic City" to the chilling "Illumination" is absolutely gorgeous, and fits perfectly within the context of the game.

Almost all game titles that take themselves seriosly and who are from japan have soundtracks superior than any other.
