i'll make sure to post more djent threads now that I know how angry it makes you ;)
pretty sure you much be at least 18 to post on 4chan? so probably not many fans here.
Does anybody masturbate here?
New release from Pomegranate Tiger, just discovered it today. If you are into the whole technical progressive thing, this was a pretty good listen. Enjoyed it a lot.
I know they get tons of hate here, but I am a big fan of Periphery, I was a big fan of Tesseract's 2013 album, as well as The Contortionists album last year. Animals as Leaders is a solid go to for instrumental technical progressive metal as well. None of these things sound like Meshuggah btw, so don't expect a Meshuggah rip off band with any of these.
Hurrr im so technical cause i play odd time signatures on a 7 string guitar even though the drums are in standard time

oh man the salty salty anger here is real.
Gonna do everything in my power to keep this thread alive and thriving now that I know how ass hurt it makes you faggots.
this band sorta fell under the radar back in the early 2000's, but they were something of a djent precursor. Danish band mixing a lot of down-tuned, heavy, chugging riffs with more alt metal sounds. Not nearly as progressive or conceptual as Meshuggah, but a good alternative with some catchy clean choruses amongst the heavy chugging. Also kind of fun to hear people playing with sounds like these in the early 2000's before everyone else was doing it.

>why does djent get so much hate in /mu/?
people on here see progressive rock/metal as pretentious for relying so much on technical complexity. anyway, i love a lot of djent albums. it may be trendy but its low points are a hell of a lot better than other things like nu metal and deathcore. try out sikth and the contortionist's latest album

The problem with djent is that it isn't all that technically complex; any idiot can chug-a-lug day and night and call it technical, including Korn and Papa Roach. That's precisely what they sound like these days: new variants of the most despised bands in metal, right down to the recent trend in pussy vocals. Need I remind anyone of Nothing More, the band that's getting djent into the mainstream?
