Godamn, how can one country be so full of musical talent? Goddamn
murica
>tfw almost all popular music has its roots in the south
How can Dixie be so wonderful?
>>61016248
Probably because it has a large population.
>>61016248
because of slavery
>>61016248
Probably because they descend from every other country/race on the planet
>>61016248
Because you haven't been exposed to more music around the world because you live in a western country and the US is the western country with the largest population
>>61016248
Because we're awesome.
We're America.
That's what we do.

Only reasonable answers itt
>>61016248
Is America the most diverse country on the planet?
>>61016465
it just is
>>61016766
No it isn't, and the people ITT are only familiar with political rhetoric and facts. Canada is more culturally diverse than the U.S.

americans are FAT LOL
>>61016816
this is true really
while the usa has lots of people who came from different countries we really end up in communities of mostly our own people
>>61016816
and *not* facts
>>61016465
There isn't anything else to do (t)here. Also, it's not so much the south as much as Black Americans.
>>61016831
Mexico is the fattest country
>>61016863
no it isn't
>>61016816
>A caution: Cultural diversity is a different concept than ethnic diversity.
>>61016857
Almost all music history books I've read, including the ones written by black historians, have noted that music was the one area where the south was integrated, actually. When Jimmie Rodgers (the guy often credited as the first modern/non-old time country singer) came onto the scene quite a few black musicians thought he was, well, black. Howlin' Wolf cites him as his biggest influence, for example.

Fucking this
>>61016886
Oh, you're right. The correct way to say it is:
"Mexico is fatter."
>>61016922
Well, yeah. The south is like Cajun food. They took something European and solid (French food) and gave it style and exotic flavor. Not much different than Jazz with Early American Pop/Classical and Gospel with Hymnals/Baroque. The problem is the white majority of a fallen Southern economy being terrified of change, color, and flavor.

This is objectively false for a great amount of the white artists in the area though. Western Swing, for example, was a genre that combined the jazz and the country of the era to create something entirely new.

Are you saying that's not true?
