Why don't people on the kpop threads ACTUALLY talk about the musical production of the songs instead of just creaming over the faces of the bands.
I.e. i really love the dark gothic feel that is in the kpop song: Mama by Exo K. The heavy distorted guitar halway through gives the song an industrial taste which is cool.
The song Beautiful Stranger by SNSD is always one of my favorites, the guitar player really does the song justice alongside the synths. If you watch the live version on youtube, SNSD freakin stop singing halfway thru as a random metal guitar solo bursts out! They go from kpop to metal and it is absolutely amazing!
It pisses me off that kpop fans only care about the girls and guys on the cover and not care about the actual music and those who write the songs!
The entire reason why I listen to kpop and began listening to kpop is due to the music production.
SNSD and T-ara are my favs. T-ara's Day By Day album is filled with epic alternative rock influences.

What sucks when I speak to a fan of kpop or a pop group stating I enjoy the music and they ask me "whos your fav member" well i dont know them off by beart because it is the music and sound that makes me listen to them.. the creative process for each comeback is not just focussed on the music itself, there's more elements involved. visuals don't just mean "omo nice axillae" or whatever, it's about the art direction: the colours, the outfits, the atmosphere of the mv, the choreo and how it all ties in with a specific theme.
imagine listening to catallena by orange caramel or red light by f(x) without having seen the mvs, you wouldn't get the entire experience of what the artists involved wanted to give you. the people behind the music and the people behind the visuals are part of the same team, it's a collective effort in a way you rarely ever see in western pop or any other genre tbqhwu

There are tons of sampled guitar (and other instrumental) sounds that you can use without touching a real guitar yourself. These make a part like Weironi's sound exactly the same -stand out exactly the same- as using a real guitar would, the only difference is one may be more convenient at the time. But that doesn't matter to the listener in any way at all; Weironi is exactly the same song, regardless of how they made the guitar part.

Same with all the synths, some ticks and bangs whatever are taken from elsewhere but the actual beat is all derived from scratch, yes of course similar patterns and ideas are used but still it is from scratch.

yeah, but composing the song is separate from how you get the sounds into the final recording. You can use a real instrument, or pick sounds you like from a library, or do both. Or use a real instrument to trigger your samples. Almost every single k-pop song is composed largely of pre-recorded notes, and whatever bits may be played on real instruments are themselves massively edited, cut, and pasted around.
