He is 100% right. Psychedelic rock is a stupid, meaningless term. Pink Floyd had nothing to do with drugs at all after Syd left. Also Captain Beefheart sucks.

The term psychedelic rock is pretty meaningless if you think about it. Many things can be "mind altering", it's unclear what do you mean by it. Musicians just make music they enjoy.

Psychedelic rock is about replicating the experience of being under the influence of psychedelic drugs like LSD.
All of the bands listed in the OP have done various drugs in their careers. king crimson really was getting away from drug related music and so was pink floyd and beefheart, but court, trout mask, and dark side are still very druggie and weird, 'mind revealing' sorts of albums.
