That first album will always be 10/10. The second album is also wonderful. It's a bit weird in some parts, but it has so many great and classic songs on it as well, such as "Learn From This Mistake," "Landing On The Mountains of Megiddo," "Dog Tired," and "Where I'm Going."
Honestly I think Phil's voice goes perfect with an acoustic guitar. He's a Delta New Orleans Blues type of guy, and he belongs on a Delta blues record before he leaves to the ethereal realms.
The third album had some weak spots, but "Nothing In Return" was not one of them. Honestly one of the greatest songs of their career. There were other crushers on this one as well. "3 Suns And 1 Star" and Ice Cream were great. More of that dirty blues fused with punk rock.
IV was another outstanding album.
The band is weird without Kirk, but I think they'll pull through if they do another album.
I really just want to see Phil do a pure blues album though, maybe with Pepper, or by himself.

I've been drifting in and out of the metal scene for years picking up cheap shit here and there. I'm such a total tightarse that I've got way more 'underground' stuff than mainstream metal just because I can pick those up for like $10 per CD from local mail-order (well, net-order nowadays) outlets and I always end up springing for everything that looks remotely interesting in their catalogue because, hey, cheap CDs.
The GF has actually contributed a fair number of the more mainstream CDs as well.

yes but you still increase your risk of lung/throat/mouth cancer by smoking. Using a water pipe actually filters out about 90% of heavy carcinogens and ash being inhaled, so its easy to say its safer than cigarettes (or a joint for that matter) but its still an increased risk

Who was the weirdest metalhead you met in your life? I met this guy who dug a grave in his basement and slept in it, not to be edgy the dude was 40 years old, but to remember death and practice death everyday so he is always ready for it. He had many other weird habits he was also a very good painter and an engineer. I couldnt comprehend any of it since i was 16 at the time but later on i got into mysticism and gnostic knowledge i could understand what it all meant. Ill never forget that guy he was somehow a mentor to me.

the music itself was pretty simple since Carcass were more or less amateurs at the time of recording, but if they recorded it now it would probably be a serviceable grind record (it's still more notable for it's influence than anything though)

For Morbid Angel, I tried Altars of Madness and Covenant. All the songs sounded the same to me and I hated the vocals. Maybe because I'm not used to it?
For Slayer, I tried Reign in Blood. I liked Angel of Death, Piece by Piece, and Raining Blood, but didn't like the rest of it so much.

They switch between metal and rock constantly in their songs and albums so yeah it'll be pretty mellow, they have a few killer songs though, fantastic guitarists. But you'll have to pick and choose a bit if you don't like the prog rocky parts

I got into metal from punk via the Melvins. Since then, I've essentially only listened to sludge metal, though I have heard some of the more well-known stuff from outside of sludge (Sabbath, Judas Priest, early Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, that kind of shit).
If you could help me figure out what other metal I might like, I'd appreciate it.
