First time posting here in /mu/, but been lurking.
Saw a discussion in one of the threads here about best albums of the decade.
Personally I think 2013 was a great year for music -- > (pic-related, best album of the decade, so far IMO)
Thoughts?
Boring and standard EDM
But it's okay to have an opinion OP don't let all the people who will inevitably call you a pleb or a redditfriend knock you down.
Just keep exploring music!
This is probably bait, but that really is a very well done album.
People just got pissed that it wasn't Human After All 2.0

There is literally nothing EDM about RAM...

#1
Of 2015
2010 - Taylor Swift - Speak Now
2011 - Radiohead - King of Limbs
2012 - Swans - The Seer
2013 - Patterns - Dangerous Intentions
2014 - Future Islands - Singles
2015 - if Beck releases an album before the end of the year, it'll be that, otherwise I don't know
>>60950944
see OP I wish more people were like you
so many newfags (here and 4chan in general) post their shit and then try to act superior or super knowledgeable about it
you seem pretty cool
I think RAM is decent like a 7/10 but definitely an important album for the decade, arguably what has created this new-Disco buzz.
>>60951099
it depends yeah?
like is it a genius work of cutting edge commentary that's, like, COMPLETELY unrivalled by any of his predecessors?
or is it just really sloppy and dumb music?
IDK, can't tell if genius or retarded.

Well produced boring shit.

>arguably what has created this new-Disco buzz
jesus fucking christ
If I had to choose an album of the decade right now it would be pic related or TPAB. I really believe Kendrick is the realest west coast rapper of all time. Maybe I'm just a fan boy.
>>60951145
absolutely not. far from a terrible album but not too close to being a decent one either. so many better garage/indie/lo-fi rock acts deserving of praise, especially since Nathan seems more and more like a cry baby every year

OP here.
My basis for this is terms of how much it's affected the music scene; granted it's more diverse now than it was in the past years. I really think albums that have the capacity to dictate a sort of "standard" sound for the years to come merits the "album of the decade" title.
Don't get me wrong though, I love my share of Kendrick, Death Grips, and Earl Sweatshirt; as well as Tame Impala (fuckin' Currents), Neon Indian, and St.Vincent. But the concept I was basing it on was overall "influence" (so to speak).
Like the course of the discussions in this thread though.
Here's another album that shaped contemporary sound. IMO.
>>60950944
Daft Punk's my favorite band but this album is far beneath Discovery and Alive 2007 IMO
Underrated
>>60951650
>when you hear helicopter so you check out their album and it sounds nothing like helicopter
Why couldn't every song have that aesthetic?
>>60950944
Not in any order:
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye
Money Store by Death Grips
Random Access Memories by Daft Punk
Love in the Future by John Legend
The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monae
Goddess by Banks
I don't listen much to metal or classical/jazz tho
Nothing Is Wrong by Dawes
